“Spiritual Transformation” was the title of the message delivered Sunday morning by Pastor Miller. Ed Vanlaningham gave his testimony and gave his plans to attend Florida Bible College this fall. He sang, “My Spirit’s High” and “I Can’t Wait to See Jesus,” and accompanied himself on the guitar. On Sunday evening, Pastor Miller continued to present slides from the Holy Land on “The Lebanon Country.” Mrs. Elsie Weybright and, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Kinney returned after spending the winter in Florida. Mrs. Zona Deeter spent the week end in Munster visiting her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sands, Lori and Jeff. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Morehouse entertained with a pizza supper Saturday evening for Mr. and Mrs. Dan Smith, Helena and Teresa and Mrs. Edna Storrs and Sandy of Conneaut. Ohio. Mrs. John Mullilnix. and Marcia, Miss Doris Tom, and Mrs. and Mrs. Jim Tom and children of South Bend spent Sunday with Mrs. Edna Tom and Mrs. Emma Cripe. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Smith and daughters; and Mrs. Edna Storrs and daughter, Sandy, of Conneaut, Ohio. -NSGlory Barn, assembly part company A bookstore on the property in front of the Glory Barn, near North Webster, was taken down last weekend. The building, owned by the Faith Assembly, was taken down and moved to a location on CR 1100 W. one-fourth mile east of state road 5 in Noble County. Mel Greider, owner of the Glory Barn has stated the bam and the assembly have parted company. Rev. Hobart Freeman serves as pastor of the Faith Assembly. (OAT STOLEN A tan leather coat, valued at $175. was reported stolen from the Warsaw Moose Lodge. Linda Hamilton, r 1 North Webster, said the theft occurred between 6 a.m. Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday.

Mrs. Mosciline (Sherman) Deaton, r 2 Syracuse, was chosen the 1978 Syracuse Senior Citizens Queeh last Thursday. April 20, at the Scout Cabin. Mrs. Deaton, who was crowned by Turkey Creek Township Trustee Joseph Shewmon, said, “I’m very happy. I’m full of joy to be selected. First CROP auction ready
For the first time, a CROP Friendship Auction will be held April 29 at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds. Sale of items will begin at 9:30 a.m. Items for the sale have been contributed by individuals, organizations and churches to benefit the Christian Rural Overseas Program, or CROP. The contributions for the sale have come from Kosciusko, Elkhart, DeKalb, Saint Joseph. Marshall and Noble Counties. Quilts, afghans and comforters will be sold beginning at 9:30a.m. Antiques and collectibles will go on the auction block at 11 a.m. and used items and miscellaneous items will be offered at 12 noon. Pancakes and sausage will be sold at 7 a m. and throughout the day. A chicken barbecue will start at 11 a m. and also continue the rest of the day. Items to donate can be brought to the sale. The sale will be the major fund-raising effort for CROP Marvin Mishler, Nappanee, originated the idea of having a joint sale between the counties and continuing it annually. Proceeds from the sale will be used to further the self-help programs of CROP in foreign countries and for disaster relief in the United States. More than 30 countries are currently receiving help to improve agriculture, water resources, vocational opportunities and provide shortterm emergency assistance in time of disaster. Syracuse firemen attend fire school Captain Corky Wong; assistant chiefs Joe Anderson and Ken Johnson; John Connolly, Jan Vansickle, Kirk Hughes and Roger Grothaus, all Syracuse firemen, attended the two-day fire school April 22-23 at IndianaPurdue University, Indianapolis. The annual school, sponsored by the Indiana Fire Instructor’s Association, is held in cooperation with the Indiana state fire marshal’s office. It provides training for nearly 1,200 volunteer firefighters in the state. Rural firefighting, community disaster planning, handling radioactive incidents, aircraft fire rescue procedures and life hazards to firefighters are the school workshops. Instructional staff includes government experts and industryrepresentatives, as well as professional firefighters.
