MAD plans for May 29 A total of five persons were in attendance at last night’s (Tuesday) meeting of the Milford Area Development Council when important plans were discussed for the annual Memorial Day festivities. The chicken barbecue and activities of the day will be held at the elementary school with the barbecue being moved into the gym in case of rain. Workers are needed to help with the barbecue. Two sky divers will be jumping during the day and the annual cutie king and queen contest will be held. The committee would like to hold a community volleyball tourney during the day. Church groups, family groups and others interested in entering such a tournament are asked to contact Becky Doll, Bruce Bultemeier, Carol Chambers or Julie Hickman so a schedule can be set up. Approval was given for Ralph Owens to make two four by eight signs saying, “Welcome to Milford.” These will be placed at the north and south edges of town. Ned Speicher’s class at the Milford Junior High School will again be planting flowers in the uptown planters. Contributions are still being received from businesses and individuals for the operation of MAD this year. "Old wine and an old friend are good provisions." George Herbert
