chairman Dean Hartle. The Bike-A-Thon is scheduled for Saturday, May 12, with May 20 as the alternate date if a change is necessary because of bad weather. Club president Jay Boyer announced that the purpose.of the Bike-A-Thon is to provide a worthy youth project for the community and to help carry out other activities in the Lakeland area. Brochures with details and a registration form may be secured from Augsburger’s Food Palace in North Webster or Syracuse, Chris Koher Insurance Agency in Syracuse, elementary and junior high schools in the Lakeland School Corporation, and from any Lakeland Kiwanis member. Bike riders under 21 must have parents sign their registration form. Each rider is to secure his or her sponsor or sponsors and record them on both the rider’s copy and duplicate copy shown on back of the registration blank. Sponsors will pledge a specific amount for each mile ridden by the cyclists. Pledges by sponsors may be prepaid by check or cash, but checks are preferred and should be made payable to Lakeland Kiwanis Club. Bicycle participants may secure as many

sponsors as they wish. The route to be followed will be from Augsburger parking lot in North Webster or Syracuse or from Schwartz Super Valu Market in Milford to Quaker Haven and back. Maps of the routes to be followed will be available and the round trip is approximately 15 miles. After completion of their ride, bike riders must secure certification of their ride from the Kiwanis member in charge at the starting point. After verification of their ride cyclists must go back to their sponsors to collect the amount pledged unless it has been prepaid. Participants are to return their rider’s copy along with collected pledge money to one of the following — North Webster, Palace of Sweets — Milford, Leon Newman’s Barber Shop — Syracuse, Koher’s Insurance Agency. Prices will be awarded in two categories made up of the 14 and under age group and those 15 and older. Prizes will also be given for places six through 10. A Bike-T-Thon shirt will be given to all riders who turn in over a set amount of pledges. Lakeland Kiwanians are also sponsoring a bicycle inspection on Friday, May 5, at North Webster, Syracuse and Milford Elementary and Junior High Schools according to an announcement by chairman Jack Maule.

Florida man arrested for robbery connection A Florida man, Charles Franklin Greer, 22, of New Port Richey, was arrested by county police last Wednesday, in connection with the December 20 burglary of three Pickwick Park Addition residences, Syracuse. He is charged with break-in and attempted thefts of r 1 Syracuse summer residences of Mrs. Ada Duckwall, Philip Kiley and Marilyn McKee Tindall, all of Indianapolis. Greer and an accomplice, Mark Allen Holcomb, 18, r 4 Syracuse, were scared away from the Duckwall home by caretaker Jesse Hahn after stacking various items beside the doors of the Kiley and Tindall homes. Holcomb, who was sentenced in the offense March 9, received a five year suspended sentence, three years probation and SIOO fine, costs and damages in connection with the case.
