1 YEAR AGO, APRIL 27,1977 Jack Wells and James Fry have announced plans to form a new real estate agency in Syracuse, to be known as Fry and Wells Hometown Realtors. Mrs. Clem (Suzanne) Lisor of Syracuse Chapter Order of the Eastern Star will assume the responsibilities of the highest office in the order in Indiana on April 27, when she is installed as worthy grand matron of the Indiana Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. Wedding plans are set for August 20 at Saint Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Syracuse, for Cindy Kay Earnhart, r 1 Kimmell, and Roger Lee Niles, r 1 Syracuse. The Milford Iron and Welding Shop, which has been owned and operated for several years by Earl J. Miller, has been purchased by Hoy Jones, of Elgin, 111. Mr. Jones expects to take over about July 1 but Mr. Miller said he would stay on for a few months. Mr. Jones with his wife and two children expects to move to Milford soon. He is the son of Weatherhead calls fire department Syracuse firemen were called to a fire at the Weatherhead Company in Syracuse at 8:26 p.m. April 22. The fire, on the monorail track, was caused by a possible short. When firemen arrived, the fire was out. There was no damage. Booked on alcohol charges Several area residents were booked at the county jail over the week end on alcohol-related charges. Jim Edward Kiwetkowski, 28, r 1 North Webster, was charged with public intoxication, resisting law enforcement and driving under the influence of intoxicating beverages. He is being held in the jail in lieu of SI,OOO bond. Jimmie Dean Stout, 21, r 1 North Webster, was booked on a charge of public intoxication. His bond was set at SIOO. Also booked was Peggy Ann Slusher, 19, r 1 Cromwell, on a charge of deception. She was released after posting a bond of $l5O.

Darr, r 4 Syracuse, has completed Army training as a Good Services Specialist at Fort Lee, Va., and has been selected by the Army to be a Recruiter Aide in her hometown area, Warsaw, assisting Army recruiters, for the next 30 days. She is a 1975 graduate of Wawasee High School and is the daughter of Mrs. Donna Belle L. Darr and the late Harold W. Darr. Private Darr entered the Army’s Delayed Entry Program last August and went on active Army duty December 28, according to her Army recruiter. Staff Sergeant Ricky Brennan, W'arsaw. Her next assignment will be to Fort Eustis, Va. Her reasons for joining the Volunteer Army? “Travel . . . training and the chance to see some things beyond Indiana’s borders,” admitted the 20-year-old soldier. The soldier will be talking to old friends and the juniors and seniors at Wawasee High School about the new opportunities, especially for women, in the Army. Benjamin Deatsman honored at shower A baby shower was held on Sunday in the home of Mrs. Robert Buhrt, r 1 Syracuse, in honor of Benjamin Ross Deatsman, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Deatsman of Leesburg.
