Leisure Time

The dress rehearsal By LESLIE WHITMAN » it's taken three long months of learning lines, building sets, making costumes, practicing music, practicing dancing, practicing, practicing, practicing! Now, it's barely a week before the show and just when you think you've shed that last tear and made that last little mistake comes the hard work — dress rehearsal. This is the time when every element of the total production, drama, music, choreography, orchestra, sets, props and costumes come together to make a whole. The cast and crew of "Hello Dolly" have been hard at work these past two weeks putting the musical together. I stopped in at one of the dress rehearsals last week and took these pictures hoping to show the blood, sweat and tears which go into a production. "Hello Dolly" will be presented at Wawasee High School this week end and next week will come a review on the final production. Break a leg, guys! Kick-off meeting set at Maxwelton

Video games

By PATRICIA M. BRAMAN Extension Agent, Home Ec You walk into the TV section of the store, and there they are. Those video games. Video games have increased in popularity during the past year. If you are planning to purchase one of those games, there are some things you need to think about. Research has shown that video games can cause a permanent pattern tc&develop on the screen of TV sets if the games are used a great deal. Black and white sets are more susceptible to the problem. Some of the games can leave a pattern after 100 to 200 hours of use. For color sets, it takes more than 350 hours of use before the pattern shows up. There are some things you can look for to protect your TV set: 1. When the game is on, but not being played, does it have a moving pattern? These moving patterns will not cause damage to the screen. 2. Avoid games and program cartridges that have high brightness levels. Compare models by adjusting the controls to low’ contrast on the demonstration set at the store. If the

game’s image remains bright even when the controls are turned down, the game may be generating high brightness levels that could damage the set. 3. When you get the game, adjust your set for a normal picture. Then switch on the game. The game picture will be more in greys than black and white, or bright colors. This is less apt to cause a permanent pattern to develop on the screen. 4. When the game isn’t in use, shut it off. That will not only help protect the picture tube, it will also save energy. —o— SEASONED SALT, - Makes about IV4 cups. -1 cup salt, 2T. paprika, 1 tsp. parsley flakes, 1 tsp. dried chives, 1 tsp. black pepper, Vi tsp. dried marjoram leaves, Vi tsp. celery seed, Vi tsp. curry powder, y 4 tsp. garlic powder, y 8 tsp. cayenne red pepper. For a while it seemed Sharp’s two sons might be able to have a snowball fight next summer!
