The Pierceton-Washington Park Board has received a check from the Clarence S. Baxter estate in the amount of $59,600.48. They also received an interest check for $715. This represents a final distribution of the special bequest provided in the last will and testament of Baxter, a former Pierceton businessman. One of the provisions of the last will and testament of Baxter, who died on August 25, 1976, provided that the rest, residue and remainder of the property of his estate be distributed to certain beneficiaries, one of which was the Pierceton Park board. Future plans for the new property include an additional lighted ball field for adult slow pitch games with a 275-foot foul line, additional picnic area and a much needed parking area, in anticipation of the persons attending the events planned in the new amphitheater.

Gov., and Sherman Bryant, Lt. Gov.-elect for 1978-79, spoke at the Saturday morning meeting of the Wawasee Kiwanis Club. The men spoke on membership. They stressed the importance of new members from this area, relating directly to the club’s success or failure in the community. Both men stressed a 12 per cent annual growth of this service club to be a successful and progressive organization. Plans are being made for the second annual “500” pancake and sausage breakfast to be held May 27 from 6 a m. until 10:30 a.m. at the youth center.
