Two to receive degrees at state convention
Two Wawasee High School Future Fanners of America will receive degrees at the state FT A convention in June. Receiving degrees will be John Kaiser, Hoosier Fanner Degree; and Ed Clayton, Hoosier AgriBusinessman Degree. Members of the WHS FT A recently competed in the District II FFA Leadership Contest at Fairfield High _ School. Maurice Beer plowed 40 acres on Tuesday It’s the time of the year when farmers start working in their fields getting ready for planting. A few of the area farmers have already begun working in their fields. Maurice Beer of Milford has been out in his fields. He stated that he has 40 acres plowed as of yesterday, (Tuesday), and has fertilizer spread. Leon Tucker of Milford has disced a few stalks but the Tuckers haven’t been out to plow as of yet. The weather has farced most area farmers to stay out of their fields until the past couple of days. 'They then made 53 paper bunnies for the nursing home. Mrs. Greider had recreation. The Stackhouses then served punch and cookies. The next meeting will be April 18.
Deadline set April 1 By JUDY FERVERDA On March 27, the Wee Webster Workers 4-H Club, met in the home of Amy, Judy and Kay Ferverda. . President, Carman Bryant, called the meeting to order. The 4-H pledge was led by Kevin Brower and the American pledge by Judy Ferverda. Roll call was “your favorite sport.” Judy Ferverda read minutes of the last meeting. Amy Ferverda led the group in singing “Kum-Ba-Yah.” Mrs. Ferverda told the group that the “drop and add” deadline is April 1. They also discussed going to the Elkhart County 4-H Fair, this summer. Lyle Haney gave a health and safety report on “Flying Kites.” Kay Ferverda gave a demonstration on the “Characteristics of a Good Dairy Cow.” Richard Karst had a game for recreation. Keith Brower was the winner. The Ferverda’s served doughnuts and punch for refreshments. The next meeting will be April 24.
