Three capture top basketball awards

Three varsity basketball players captured the top four awards Monday night during recognition night at Wawasee High School. Senior Bryan Smith received the mo6t valuable player award and the plus award. The leading scorer for the team and “outstanding rebounder” in floor play completed 45 per cent from the field and 76 per cent from the line this season. Worth Packer, also a senior, ended with statistics of 67 per cent offensive rebounds and 107 defensive rebounds to receive the rebounding award. The player wth the highest percentage of free throws, Phil Stichter, senior, received the free throw award. He finished with an 85 per cent completion for the year, having made 93.5 per cent from the line in the last 15 games. Varsity Recognized Varsity players were recognized for their individual contributions to the team. Senior players and their respective awards are Kent Trobaugh, certificate; J. D. Trojan gymnasts down Heritage for 2-0 record

The Milford gymnastics team traveled to Heritage Middle School, Middlebury, on March 20 for a meet. The Trojans won the meet 48-22. Placing for Milford at the beginning level were Melissa Baumgartner, second in vaulting with 4.35 and third on the beam with 4.95; Martha Cruz, first in vaulting with 4.45; Jill Patty, third in vaulting with 4.25; Naomi Garza, second on the beam with 5.50 and third in tumbling; and

Rockenbaugh. Marcia Taylor, Stacey Freel and Natalie Myers.

Sharon Bohnstedt, first in floor exercise with 5.15. At the optional level, Theresa McClain placed first on the beam with 5.70 and third in flow with a 5.90; Sandy Kortenber placed first in tumbling with 6.25, first in floor with 6.85 and third in vaulting with 5.60; Jill Haab placed second in vaulting with 5.60, second in tumbling with 6.10 and second on the beam with 5.55. The team’s record stands at 20.
