council grand knights have announced. Larry Rethlake and I*ooo List are drive co-chairmen for council 6323 and Mike Silver is drive chairman for council 4511. Last year, the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic men’s fraternal society, collected $35,000, in a Lake and Porter County Mentally Retarded Pilot Project week end drive. This year’s drive will be the first drive statewide by the Knights. People are asked to contribute to the cause and are given candy in appreciation. The local Knights of Columbus retain 100 per cent of the net income from the donations, after expenses, for distribution to Cardinal Center, Warsaw. State Deputy Francis F. Gallagher, Indianapolis, the highest ranking elected K of C official in the state, said there are over 150,000 mentally retarded citizens in Indiana. “The donations to local organizations by Knights of Columbus Councils in behalf of their contributions will prove to be a gratifying experience for our members who are asked to 1 * practice Christian charity as a principle of their membership in the Knights of Columbus,” he commented. “We are looking forward to 100 per cent participation this year.” Thomas F.
