Missionary Conference to be held at Nappanee
“The Harvest Truly is Great, but the Labourers are Few” is the theme for the sixth annual Missionary Conference at the Living Gospel Church at Nappanee. Services will be held nightly March 30 - April 2 at 7:30 p.m. Rev. John Miesel, associate general director of the Unevangelized Field Mission, will be speaking each evening. After an apprenticeship in printing and graduation from Bryan College and Grace Theological Seminary, John Miesel served as a pastor in Monticello for two years. He and his wife later served one term in the former Belgian Congo but were unable to return to their teaching ministry because of the uprising in 1963-64 in which 19 of their fellow missionaries were killed by rebels. In June of 1965 the Miesel family felt for France where they were used to begin the Alpine Mission Press which produced thousands of tracts, books and Bibles. Rev. Miesel also served as a part time pastor. A ladies luncheon will be held on Friday, March 31, in the United Methodist Church, Nappanee, at 12 noon. Mrs. Ruth Steffen, New Tribes Missionary in the Philippines, will be speaking. A men’s prayer breakfast is planned for Saturday, Arpil 1, at 7 a.m. It will be held at Ron’s Bakery, Nappanee. The speaker will be Ted Cripe, missionary to New Zealand with the United Missionary Fellowship. Also scheduled for Saturday are a children’s hour and youth fellowship supper. They will both

Church ladies view abortion slide show
Volunteers from the Kosciusko County Right to Life, a non-profit organization, presented a slide program to ladies of the Saint Martin de Porres Catholic Church Altar Society, Syracuse, Monday night. Father Kenneth Sarrazine, pastor of the church, expressed the viewpoint of the Catholic Church. “All life cranes from God and all life should be protected from the very first moment of conception to death. We as human beings don’t have the right to take another life,” he commented. The Right To Life organization is an anti-abortion group. The slides which were used in the program were developed by Doctor and Mrs. John (Barbara) C. Wilke. They are the same slides which were shown to the United States Supreme Court in 1973, to fight the amendment providing for legal abortions on demand. The court judge then dismissed the use of the slides, saying they were too emotional. “Our goal is a human life amendment to the Constitution,” said Kathy Wuthrich, who presented the program. One of the symbols of group is the rose, because it symbolizes life. Right to Life is encouraging individuals to send papier roses to congressmen, in suppwrt of a human rights amendment. Right to Life is a nondenominational organization and is not associated with the Catholic Church. The programs presented by the group are educational and describe what Right to Life is and various means of abortions. As a group, the organization assists girls who are pregnant. “We’re trying to encourage more women to be active in it,” said Mrs. Clar brodrick, who was in charge of Monday night’s program. The group has existed for the past five years and is composed of 30 volunteers. Mrs.
