Pauline Gunkle entertains Tippecanoe Twp. Homemakers
Members of Tippecanoe Township Extension Homemakers Club met March 15 in the home of Pauline Gunkle, Lake Tippecanoe. June Miller assisted the hostess. Roll call, “A new piece of home furnishing or appliance I would like to have,” was answered by 22 members. Betty Hinton was a guest. Dorothy Thornburg and Debbie Beltcher were welcomed as new members. Harriett Hidy read the health and safety report concerning “Sleeping Sickness.” Spring planting of potatoes, peas and sweet peas was discussed by Goldie Hunicutt as garden remarks. The citizenship lesson, “Patriots in Petticoats”, was presented by Mary Lee Willman. An outline of the life of Theodore Dreiser, an American novelist born at Terre Haute, was read by Ruth Mickley as the cultural art lesson. A carry-in dinner was served at noon. Get acquainted tea planned for April 6
In an effort to introduce new members to the Extension Homemakers program a get acquainted tea is being planned. It will be held at 7:30 p.m., April 6, in the Oswego Community building. It was announced that hobby club will be held March 23 in the home of Mrs. Mickley. Plans were finalized for upcoming charity projects. Mrs. Hunnicutt will be hostess for the April meeting. The birthday cake will be baked by Essie Rainey. Lessons were given by Dorothea Kurth, “The Effect of Color, Space and Lighting on You” and Mrs. Mickley, “Uniting The Family.” Secret pal gifts were distributed. The meeting closed with group singing of “Good Night, Ladies”, led by Mrs. Mickley.

Refreshments were served by Mrs. Milton Holmgrain. Theta Sigmas discuss sale Marian Breyer was hostess for the March 14 meeting of Theta' Sigma Chapter of Psi lota Xi Sorority. Ideas were discussed for the annual geranium sale. Plans were made for the upcoming district and state meetings and national convention. Refreshments were served by Lynn Atwood. Snowmobile flub members receive patches Special patches were awarded to members who rode snowmobiles for the Heart Fund in the January Sled-A-Thon when members of Lakeland Snowmobile Club met March 13 in a local restaurant. Those receiving patches were: Dick Mitchell, Harold Mitchell, Tony Meinert, David Long, Jeff Corn and Sharon Galloway. Other honors are to be [resented at the upcoming Indiana Snowmobile Association meeting. Plans were announced for a Snowmobile Club outing to be held at Honor, Mich., on March 18 and 19. Family games were enjoyed. Refreshments were served by Barbara Fiddler and Sharon Galloway. The last meeting of the season will be held April 10. A banquet is planned. Election of officers will be held. Advance reservations are necessary. Charter members of the Lakeland Club are to be honored. Chitchat elects officers New officers were elected during the March 15 meeting of Chit Chat Extension Homemakers Club. The group met in the home of Carol Landrigan. Doris Everson assisted the hostess. The new officers are: Mrs. Everson — president Mary Lou Whitehead — vice president Janet Kirkpatrick — secretary Mary Lou a Cindrich — treasurer Plans were discussed for the county trip. The lesson, “Effects of Color, Space and Lighting on You”, was given by Mrs. Whitehead. Valarie McElroy will be hostess for the April meeting. A lesson on hair care and make up is being planned. It will be held at a local beauty shop. COMMUNITY NEWS Saturday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Willman, Leesburg, were T. L. Sellers and sons Tony, Marion, and Steve Sellers, Winona Lake. Thrifty Homemakers monthly meeting has been postponed until April. -NW- - License suspended Donald L. Newcomer of 113 W. Carroll Street, Syracuse, has had his license suspended by the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles for drunken driving, from February 8,1978 to August 8, 1978.
