Burdette Tarman Feb. B,l9lo—Feb. 23,1978 Funeral services were held in the Reith-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday for Burdette Tarman, 68,67595 CR 23 New Paris. Mr. Tarman, died at 10:50 p.m. Thursday in the Elkhart hospital. He had been a patient there for 12 days and had been ill for several weeks. A New Paris area native, he was born February 8, 1910, to Charles and Effie (Mishler) Tarman. He attended the Church of the Brethren in New Paris and was a 25-year member of the Elkhart Square Dance Club. He retired in 1975 from the Mogul Rubber Co. Tarman and Marybelle Brown were married on March 14,1936. She survives. Surviving with the wife are a daughter, Mrs. Virgil (Janice) Inglett, South Bend; a sister, Mrs. Herbert (Gladys) Cripe, Nappanee; and two grandchildren Rev. J. Earl Hostetter, pastor of the New Paris church, officiated. Burial was in the Milford cemetery. Elvo Sivila Doll June 9,1897 —Feb. 22,1978 Mrs. Elva Sivila Doll, 80, a native of Syracuse, died last Wednesday, Feb. 22, in Fountainview Place, Elkhart. She was a former resident of 215 State Street, Elkhart. Bom in Syracuse on June 9, 1897, she married Byron H. Doll on May 10,1914, in Syracuse. He

Lynch August 29.1895 — Feb. 24,1978 Mrs. Hazel E. Lynch, 82, r 1 Syracuse, was found dead in bed in her home at 7:30 a.m. Friday. She had been in failing health for several years. She was boro in Silver Lake on August 29, 1895, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lando Kline. She married John A. Lynch in Warsaw on September 30, 1914. He died May 13, 1948. Carter April 25,1937 — Feb. 22,1978 A native of Leesburg, George A. Carter, 40, Kimmell, died at 9:10 a.m. last Wednesday in his home. The Noble County Surveyor died of cancer. He was bom on April 25, 1937, the son of Charles and Pearl (Funk) Coon. He graduated from Leesburg High School in 1955. On December 30, 1957, he married Sandra DeGroff in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. She survives. Carter was a member of the Indiana Professional Land Surveyors, the CromwellKimmell Lions Club, a former Cubmaster at Kimmell Club and the Church of Christ. He was a Cubmaster at Kimmell formerly and served with the submarine service in the Navy from 1955 to 1959. Surviving with the wife are three sons, Scott, Shawn and Keven and two daughters, Stephanie and Kimberly, all at home; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Ellen) Zehr, Sr., Grabill and Mrs. Cecil (Evelyn) Slater, Leesburg. Services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the Ligonier Church of Christ. Gary Tuttle, minister of the church, officiated. Burial was in the Sparta cemetery, Kimmell.

Gerald L. Kistler Oct. 23, 1929 —Feb. 24,1978 Gerald L. Kistler, 48, of New Athens, Ohio, a former resident of the Syracuse, Cromwell and Goshen areas, died of a heart attack Friday, Feb. 24, in a truck terminal in Pittsburg, Pa. A truck driver, he was born near Wolf Lake on October 23, 1929, the son of Virgil Ray and Anna M. (Priest) Kistler. He lived in Ohio the past four years. Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. John (Loree) Thomas, Wilmington, Del., and Anita Kistler, Kendallville; one son, Arthur, of Trenton, N.J.; three sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Francis) Becker, South Bend, Mrs. Phillip (Sandra Sue) Farris, Granger, and Mrs. Thomas (Darien) Alvord, Edwardsburg, Mich.; and two brothers, Arthur, of Goshen, and Lawrence, Syracuse. One son, James Allen, preceded him in death. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) in the Harris Funeral Home, Syracuse. Rev. Harrison, Syracuse, was transported to Goshen Hospital at 2:06 a.m. March 1. The call was first received at 1:22 a.m. Syracuse EMS responded to two prank calls Sunday, Feb. 26, at approximately the same time. The first was at 4:13 p.m. The caller hung up in the middle of the alarm. The second, at 5:10 p.m., called the crew to South Shore Drive, where a Mr. Malen, r 4 box 378, was supposed to have been in a snowmobile accident. Ambulance was called back to the station. Anita Clements, 20, r 1 Kimmel, was taken to Goshen Hospital at 8:40 a.m., February 27, after becoming ill while working at H & H Manufacturing, SR 13S Syracuse. The call was first received at 7:55 a.m. The ambulance made another run February 27, to the Premiere Corporation, when Christina Ritter, 48, r 2 box 423 Syracuse, became ill. February 5, 1889, in Kosciusko County, a daughter of George and Sarah (Klinedinst) Harlan. She married Lester F. Rowland in Warsaw on November 1,1913. He preceded her in death on March 6, 1976. She was a member of the Mount Tabor Church and of the Progressive Homemakers. Surviving are two sons, Moine of West Chester, Pa., and Argyl of r 4 Nappanee; four grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. j' Rev. McQuillan, 70, 512 Harrison Street Syracuse, died Saturday morning, Feb. 25, of an apparent heart attack while vacationing in Phoenix, Ariz. He was boro February 9,1908, in Chicago, 111., the son of Edward C. and Lula (Scott) McQuillan. His marriage to Dorothy Alice Birney occurred on March 4, 1933. She died January 2, 1973. He moved to Goshen from Chicago in 1947, and in 1967, moved to Syracuse. He was a retired salesman for the Turco Products, Chicago, and was a member of the Goshen Moose Lodge. Surviving are two sons, Edward J. McQuillan, Syracuse, and David A. McQuillan, Toledo, Ohio; and six grandchildren.

Raymond Leedy Aug. 24,1909—Feb. 21,1978 Raymond Leedy, 68, r 3 Pierceton, father of Patricia Stidham, Syracuse, died at 10:45 p.m. last Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. A patient at the clinic since February 5, he had been in failing health the past six years. A native of Kosciusko County, he was born August 24, 1909 to Amsa and Mary (McDonald) Leedy. He was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko and Noble Counties. A retired school teacher and farmer, he married the former Velma Gebert on July 20,1935. He was also a member of the Pierceton Masonic Lodge. Pippen Oct. 7,1903—Feb. 25,1978 Kenneth Winfred Pippen, 74, of the Greencroft Apartments Goshen, brother of Mrs. Kenneth (Esther) Curtis, of Syracuse, died at 6:55 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, in Goshen Hospital. He had suffered a broken hip about a week ago. A native of Nappanee, he was born October 7, 1903, to Everett and Nancy (Stouder) Pippen, Sr. He married Mildred Miller on May 12, 1926, in Goshen. She survives. A ham radio operator, he retired from Coppes Kitchens where he had worked in the cost department for 41 years. He was also a member of the Nappanee Church of the Brethren. Besides his widow and sister, he is survived by two other sisters, Mrs. Wayne (Mary) Dunham and Mrs. Richard (Ellen Jean) Mattern, both of Nappanee; and six brothers, Everett Pippen, Jr., Merrill Pippen and Richard Pippen, all of Nappanee, C. Brethren. Rev. Gene Hipskind officiated and burial was in the Union Center cemetery, near Nappanee. Dr. George D. Strohm June 17,1898 —Feb. 28,1978 Dr. George D. Strohm, 79, of Oakwood Park, Syracuse, died February 28 at 7:35 p.m. in the Goshen Hospital, where he had been admitted a couple hours earlier. He had been ill, but the death was sudden. He was born near Pittsburgh, Pa., June 17, 1898 to Thomas Addison and Nancy Emma (Campbell) Strohm. He has lived in Syracuse with his daughter since 1965. He married Hazel Hodil on January 18, 1919, in Pennsylvania. She preceded him in death September 1, 1975. He was a retired president emeritus, Saint Paul Bible College where he served 25 years. He was also a Philippines missionary to China and the Philippines, and instigator and starter of Ebenezer Bible College, the Philippines. A daughter, Mrs. Kennard (Ruth) Robinson of Syracuse, is the only survivor. Friends may call at the Harris Funeral Home, Syracuse, from 24 and 7-9 Thursday, March 2. The funeral will be Friday, March 3, in the Calvary United Methodist Church, Syracuse. Burial will be later in the Allegheny County Memorial Park cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pa.
