LEND A HAND During a hike in the woods a troop of Boy Scouts came across an abandoned section of railroad track. Each, in turn, tried to walk the rails but soon lost his balance and tumbled off. Suddenly two of the boys, after considerable whispering, offered to bet tfnat they could both walk the entire length of the track without falling off. Challenged to make good their boost, the two boys jumped on opposite rails, extended a hand to balance each other, and walked the entire length with no difficulty. Do you recoil when Edmund Hillary and his native guide, Tenzing, made their historic climb of Mount Everest? Coming down from the peak Hillary suddenly lost his footing; Tenzing held the line taut and kept them both from falling by digging his axe into the ice. X Later Tenzing refused any special credit for saving Hillary's life. He considered it a routine part of the job. As he put it: "Mountain climbers always help each other." ><;t life's mountains are easier to climb, knowing we're doing it together, with each other s help. And life s railways are easier to walk, as we reach out and join hands to keep each other in balance, as the Boy Scouts above. As the new year approaches, lend a helping hand to someone in need and you will help yourself. • Buses Running Every Sunday get V • Bible School Hour — 9:30 A.M. ’ C • Morning Worship Services — F ***■ 10:30 A.M.
