Davto gave hte eighth gallon at the Thursday visit of the btoodmohile at the Grace College gym, Winona Dike. Both Mrs. Biller and Phillips completed their fifth gallon. The next visit of the btoodmohile will be November 14 at the Pierceton Community Building in Pierceton. Donors may give every eight weeks.
Outline Christmas plans
An organizational meeting of the Syracuse Merchants Association was held- last night (Tuesday) in Das Keller Restaurant to start planning on a Christmas promotion. James Plummer, Ganshorn Printing, was selected as chairman of the group. He said, “the Syracuse Merchants Association had a successful summer program and is looking forward to having a successful Christmas promotion.” The group first decided it would like to remain an association They also decided they would like the promotion to start as early as possible, probably right after Thanksgiving. Several ideas were suggested for the promotion. They include giving away gift certificates, giving away an amount of money, having bake sales to involve more people and have windows in the stores painted by
Announce plans to expand youth center facilities
Members of the Lakeland Youth Ceater Board of Directors have aniounced they are planning on expanding the youth center facilities. The youth center is Oca ted on SR 13 south in Syracuse. The board members said since participation of all ages in activities at the center has increased, they see a need to expand the facilities. The proposed building project, which will cost an estimated $15,000. ivill include more shower and locker room facilities, as well as additional storage. It will measure* 15* x 50’ in size and is to be attached to the west end of the youth center. Ron Roberts, member of the youth .'enter board, said no definite construction date has been set; as yet So far, the center has abxit $3,000 on hand and about 17,000 in materials committed. Roberts said the board is waiting to see how fast the additional $5,000 can be raised before construction can start. He added that they would like to see it get going next summer. The board is asking for donations for the additional $5,000. Roberts said some fund raising drives are also being planned. DEER KILLED NEAR NORT d WEBSTER William R. Jernigan, 32, r 1 North Webster, struck and killed a deer on SR 13, one mile north of North Webster, last Monday Damage was set at S3OO to his car.

school kids in a contest. Plummer also suggested they should have buttons which say “Shop in Syracuse” or “Think Syracuse.” It was generally agreed that the stores will give away an amount of money. Shoppers would receive a ticket for a drawing each time they enter a store. The association said it might be possibly be giving away more than one money prize, too. Plummer reported the association has a total of $43.66 in the bank left over from Sidewalk Days. Approximately SI,OOO dollars is going to be needed to meet the advertising and other promotional costs. Christmas decorations were also discussed by the group. Rex Yentes. Gullivers Travel Agents, is to contact a member of the Chamber of Commerce to see if the decorations can be put up right after Thanksgiving. Plummer said another meeting should be held in a couple of weeks with more merchants

Linda Crow and Gerry Bauer will put together and send out the letters. Other merchants attending were asked to think of different promotional ideas and a possible theme.
