OCT. 17. 1963 The Milford senior class will present "You Can't Take It With You”, a three-act comedy by Moss Hart and George S Kauffman on Wednesday, October 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Milford community building The play is directed by Mrs Howard Haab. The United Fund drive is in full swing in Milford and Van Buren township according to Arch Baumgartner, chairman of the drive here. Reports this week showed that $834.70 had been collected with more funds being turned in each day. October 14. when Miss Marcia Bryer became the bride of Frank Hoover in a double ring ceremony. ; John Stookey. Leesburg freshman and son of Mr. and Mrs. Emra G. Stookey who reside west of Leesburg in Prairie township is the fifth generation of the Stookey family interested in farming. His particular interest in farming concerns Pure Bred Holstein cattle which the Stookey family has been raising since 1927. Future citizens featured were Patty Ann Lynch. OCT. 18. 1917 i Robinson Chilcote of Milford, reports that the wolves got into his flock of sheep about a week ago. killed one lamb, and badly founded another. Why he concluded it was wolves, the sheep were bitten about the neck, but hot torn as dogs do. A large wolf was killed on the Rice farm about a week ago That there is a herd of wolves in the thickets west of Leesburg there is no question but the worst is. there is no wolf found from which to draw to pay for the sheep City attorney Brubaker of Warsaw gives it as his opinion that it is not necessary to register to vote The question of the constitutionality of the Women Suffrage act of Indiana is now pending in the Supreme court, and unless a decision is handed down holding the act of the legislature unconstitutional prior to November 9. all women in Kosciusko* county shall have the right of-suffrage. and will not necessarily have to register. Os course women must be 21 and comply with the same regulation in voting as are required of men Two youths injured Two Syracuse youths were taken to Goshen Hospital Saturday for injuries resulting from a 6:15 p m accident at the intersection -of Crooked Mile Road and Bo Peep Lane at Fascination Place, four miles east of Syracuse Troy Minnix. 14. driver, and George Oliver. 13. both of r 1 Syracuse, were westbound on Crooked Mile Road when Minnix lost control of the car as he was attempting to turn right onto Bo Peep Lane The car struck a tree 1 , resulting in S6OO damage Minnix incurred a cut to the upper lip and Oliver received a fractured left ankle MILLER S GOES VISITING Mr. and Mrs. Herman Miller. WE MET a man this morning who is a personal friend of Jimmy Carter — President Jimmy Carter, that is! He lurned out to be a “Jimmie,” too — Jimmie W. Mygrant. who lives on a 500-acre spread just outside Plains. Ga. He came to our Milford printing plant in the person of a truck driver with a 20-ton load of newsprint from Calhoun, Tennessee. When questioned about his relationship with the President, the slight <l2O pound>, young (45) truck driver said, “Yeah, I’ve known both Jimmie and Billy for years. We’ve been hunting together, although some years back.” He added. “But Billy is the smart one. He’s dumb like a fox Why, he’s going to make more than Jimmy ever thought of.” Asked if Billy actually drinks all that much beer, our truck driver friend said. "Heck no, that’s all just a big act.” Truck driver Mygrant said he raises peanuts, corn and soybeans on his Georgia spread. He’s been trucking for an Ohio firm for 20 years “But I'm going to keep my land.” Mygrant said, "what with land prices going up like they are around Plains." Mich., (home church of Bob and Patsy Greenwood) as evangelist. DID YOU hear the firemen made $1,150 in profits on their October 2 barbecue. Money will go toward the purchase of equipment. The barbecue is an annual event and it gives the area residents the chance to say, "thank you" to the men who keep our community safe as they battle fires on a volunteer basis. THE HOBOS held a meeting in Our Town on Tuesday. Each year Gladys Coy has a special birthday party and this year it was a hobo party. As we understand it several years ago she invited people to a birthday via a Halloween party invitation and the guests took it on themselves to dress for the occasion. thus starting something that has been continued throughout tfie past several years. MEMBERS OF the Milford Town Board have set Trick or Treat night for October 31 with the ghosts and gobblines being allowed on the streets from 5 to 9 p.m. WAWASEE HIGH School will have its annual homecoming this coming Friday with a bevy of beauties and handsome young men nominated for king and queen The Wawasee Warriors will meet Concord on the foolball field with the awards and coronation being held at halftime.

District meeting held at Milford Kosciusko Chapter 160 order of the Eastern Star, Milford, hosted the district 20 meeting at the Milford Masonic hall Saturday evening. Oct. 8. There was a carry-in supper at 6:30 p.m. followed by the district 20 business meeting and later an auction was/held in the recreation rootn of the temple. Approximately 90 people attended. Two men arrested Two Milford men were arrested by Goshen Police on the charge of contributing to the delinquency of » minor. Jose Reyes Lamas. 21, and Marcos Moran Jr., 32, both of Milford, were taken into custody along with two youths, aged 15 and 16. An officer spotted a youth fall from a car door at the Main Street crossing at 11:28 p.m. Saturday. He is a native of Fort Wayne and had been accompanist of the group for more than 18 years. William E. Allen, assistant director of Purdue musical organizations, is the accompanist for the Glee Club. He comes from Washington, and is also the director of Purdue's University Choir. The Glee Club has represented Indiana and the Association of Land-Grant Colleges and Universities in three US presidential inaugural ceremonies, as well as on national tours and State Department sponsored tours to 16 countries. Maple trees are damaged Two maple trees, owned by Walter Keal, r 1 North Webster, were damaged at 3:10 a.m. Sunday, when a towed truck owned by Mark Lair, r 2 Leesburg, reportedly broke loose from a Hoile Towing Service Truck, and struck them. The Lair truck ran off the right side of the road before hitting the trees. Damage was set at S9OO to the Lair truck.
