Fall evangelistic services set to begin on Sunday
The ladies rally at the Christian Church will serve as a kick-off for the fall evangelistic meetings which will begin on Sunday. Oct. 16 Serving as evangelist for the services will be Henry McAdams, preacher for the Church of Chnst in Saint Louis. Mich On Sunday morning the message will be. “Just A Bible Christian." The Sunday evening message will be. “In Other Words — Salvation ” The church's associate minister. Richard Brouillette, will serve as song evangelist for the week. Preparations being made in Milford for all day ladies rally
The Milford Christian Church is a beehive of extra activity these days as the women of the church gather to make final preparations for their first-ever all-day ladies rally on Saturday, Oct. 15. “Love is Serving” is the theme chosen for the day. The women are excited about " what they are doing. They want to present their program to the entire community, not just their own church members or even just the other women of Milford but to all women from the area They want to share Christ through fellowship, workshops and guest speakers Events being with registration between 9 and 9:30 a.m ( and will - close with a general session which runs from 2 to 3 p.m A salad bar lunch is being planned for the noon hour Mrs Darrell Om, president erf the church’s Ladies Aid; Mrs Robert Greenwood, wife of the church’s minister; and Mrs Larry Harman are serving as coordinators for the dsiy’s events with an ever increasing number of church women assisting. Two women from th« church — Judy Van Curen and Paulette Brouillette — will be speaking at workshops. Mrs Van Curen is the wife of Dr James Van Curen of Goshen. Her husband is ah ordained Christian Church minister. Together they served as missionaries in Rhodesia. Mrs. Van Curen will be speaking at one of the morning workshops ■ entitled. “That Woman in the Mirror." She will be telling how the image in the mirror can be changed by applying the cosmetics of Bible study and prayer Mrs Brouillette is the wife of the church's associate minister. She will be speaking at an afternoon workshop entitled, “Developing a Spiritual Green Thumb” Her thoughts will be pointed toward witnessing for Christ with tips on planting, watering and harvesting souls

This will be a discussion of opportunities available for service in the church and community for the retirement years. “A Mother is Someone Who ...” will feature Sandy Skiver of Columbia City. This workshop will explore the many roles of motherhood — from taxi driver to spiritual confident. Bonnie Hudson of Buchanan. Mich., will speak at a workshop on, “My Favorite Things”. This is a look at what’s first??? second??? third??? etc., in a Roman's life; a recipe for setting priorities And, “Help, I’m Showing my Age” This workshop will feature Bev Cameron of Pearson's Mill Christian Assembly at Converse. She will talk on the spiritual effects of physical fitness. Featured Speaker The featured speaker for the event is Kathy Young, the wife of Dennis Young, minister of the Christian Church in Kalamazoo. Mich. Minn., where she received her RN degree.. | Her experience in retreats includes organizing the annual “Minister’s Wives Retreat” at Michiana Christian Service Camp and speaking at the “Northwomen” in Kalkaska, Mich., plus Pierson Mills Retreat and many other womens gathering. The women who are getting ready for Saturday’s retreat say she is, “a woman being used of God in a wonderful way and an example to other Christian ladies." Everyone is welcome to attend.

Bill Reiff is a patient at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne in the intensive care unit following an auto accident on Friday evening, Sept. 30, at the intersection of 13 and 30. Rev. Quinton J. Everest held a three-day group of evengelic meetings. He is the pastor from “Your Worship Hour” in South Bend. Friday evening music was furnished by the choir from the Camp Creek Church of the Brethren and Saturday evening was Mr. and Mrs. Allen Shively of Syracuse, providing the music. Other musical providers were Mrs. Don Harney, Sunday morning; and the ladies’ quartet from New Salem, Sunday night. The quartet is composed of Mrs. Robert Hurd, Mrs. Wayne Tee pie, Mrs. John Plank and Mrs. Carl Lehman. Rick Rapp spent last week vacationing in Longview. Texas, with Doug Shively. Doug assists the Missionary Tech team at Longview. He returned with Rapp to spend a couple weeks with his parents. Mr. and Mrs Max Shively, and Dennis. in the fellowship hall with a miscellaneous shower. A yellow and white umbrella and pink pedal flowered doll decorated the gift table. The umbrella was made from duck feathers a few years ago by Miss Anglin. Pink, green and yellow streamers also decorated the gift table. v Misses Denise Darr and Cindy Rapp assisted Miss Anglin in opening the gifts. Mrs. Edwin Meek led in devotions by reading the “Love” (13th) chapter of I Corinthians and led in prayer. A skit was given by Mrs. John Stookey and Mrs. Dale Morehouse. Mrs. Don Harney and Mrs. Randy Pollen sang “500 Miles Away from Home,” “Country Roads” and “Side by Side.” Mrs. Pollen accompanied. The skirted serving table was centered with a yellow and orchid mum flower arrangement and yellow candles. Pastel jello refrigerator cake, green punch, coffee, nuts and mints were served to Miss Anglin, Mrs. Leo Anglin, mother of the bride-to-be; Mrs. Bill Hursey, mother of the groom-to-be; Mrs. Dale Hursey, grandmother of the groom-to-be; Mrs. George Poyser, Mrs. Max Anglin, Leesburg; Mrs. Emra Stookey, Leesburg; Mrs. Jay Swick, Akron; Mrs. Arthur Kuhn, Akron; Mrs. Don Harney, Mrs. Randy Pollen.
