Extension Homemakers hold event at Camp Mack site
‘ Yesterday's and Today’s Homemaker" was the theme used at the 1977 ElkhartKosciusko County Extension Homemaker camp held at Camp Mack in Kosciusko County on September 19-20. Shirley Hoover of Goshen served as vice-chairperson of Elko Bashor Auxiliary to meet Oct. 10 The Bashor Home Auxiliary will meet on Monday, Oct. 10. at 9 am in the Arbogast Center, Goshen Ray Stull, executive director of the home, will have charge of the program Projects for . the girls new group home will be discussed The ladies of the Bristol United Methodist Church will be hostesses Mrs. Hite shares the story of the constellations The Wednesday Afternoon Club met on September 28 in the home of Mrs K R McDougal Twenty members and two guests. Mrs Elmo Niccum and Mrs Dorothy LeCount. were present Mrs DeFord Hite spoke on the "History and Development of the Constellations”. She touched lightly on the development of astronomy froln the earliest times and indicated how anyone could study the stars on their own With the help of a map of the sky. Mrs Hite showed how to find the stars that are visible at this time of year fche named many constellations stating that in the early years men gave names to the constellations according to real or fancied resemblance to animals or characters in Greek, and Roman mythology Mrs. Joel Robbins assisted the hostess in serving refreshments as the members socialized after the program, i, - W): SPRING WEDDING PLANNED — Mr. and Mrs. Loren Pound, r 4 Leesburg, announce the engagement of their daughter. Homemaker Camp, and other officers and committee people from Elkhart County were: Jean Mabie, treasurer of Bristol; and Thelma Nusbaum. and Jean Hile, Middlebury. Monday 's program consisted of a program on “Plain Nonsense" by Durad Conrad of Kosciusko County, a lesson by the Cancer Society and Billie Watson of a floral shoppe The remainder of the afternoon was spent on crafts. Mrs Raymond Harris of Saint Joseph County gave the evening program on "Health. Happiness and Husbands. The group also made homemade taffy and worked on room talent for the talent show. The highlight of Tuesday’s activities was a fashion show by the gplkhart County Extension Homemakers, and a film on Africa, plus a cake decorating demonstration by Gladys Bontrager of Goshen. d v I TO WED IN SPRING — Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Weaver, r 2 Syracuse, announce the engagement of their daughter. Janet Marie, to Kevin Nicolas Coy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Junior Coy. r 3 Syracuse. The bride-elect and her fiance are 1977 graduates of Wawasee High School. Kevin and Janet are also both employed by Martin’s Mill at Leesburg. A spring wedding is being, planned. Floyd Yoders honored Mr and Mrs. Floyd Yoder of near Milford were honored on Sunday at a dinner and open house in celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Yoder is the former Bonnie Miller, daughter of Marshall Miller of r 1 Milford and the late Mrs. Miller. Mr. Yoder is the son of Mr and Mrs. Pete Yoder of r 1 Milford. Serving as hosts for the special event were their children, Steve and Susan. The family enjoyed Sunday dinner out. An open house was held between 3 and 6 p.m. with Mrs. Neal Olsen serving. The cake was decorated in gold and rust for all and was served with nuts, mints and punch. A buffet was served to familymembers in the evening. Approximately 50 persons were in attendance

Beer, Fiechter engagement Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Beer of r 2 Milford have announced the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Beth Beer, to Rick Fiechter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fiechter of Bluffton. The bride-elect is a graduate of Wawasee High School and is a secretary at Switches, Inc., Goshen. Her fiance is a graduate of Adams Central High School and is a fanner. A December 11 wedding is being planned. It will take place in the Apostolic Christian Church at Milford.
Kiwanis travel series to begin season Oct. 27
The Lakeland Kiwanis Club of North Webster will start its 197778 "Travel and Adventure Series” on October 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Wawasee High School. The first travelogue to be featured is on Canada. Other travelogues of the series include: November 17, Canyonlands; January 19, Columbia; February 16, Germany; March 9. Tonga; and April 6, Greece. Each travelogue is a film, allcolor motion picture made by a professional photographer who has had many years experience in traveling and filming various places around the world. The photographer comes on stage, also, for each of the programs and personally narrates his film. In addition to the motion picture and narration, many of the Sorosis club has lesson Mrs. Parker Phend was hostess to the Sorosis Club, Milford, Monday evening, Oct. 3. Mrs. Al Miller, president, conducted the business session during which time Mrs. Jack Maher was voted into membership. Mrs. Burris Sharp gave the program on "The World’s Women-Yesterday and Today.” She dealt mainly with fashions in clothing, starting with ancient Greek. Roman and Egyptian sytles and ending with those of the twentieth century. Many pictures of costumes were shown Refreshments were served during the social hour. The next meeting will be October. 10 in the home of Mrs. Robert Brown
Intermediate Moms enjoy pot luck, new officers - The Intermediate Mothers Gub of Syracuse met several times during the past two months. On September 19, a pot luck dinner was held in the home of Mrs. Max Ganshorn. Hostesses were Mrs. Ganshorn, Mrs. Ray Buhrt and Mrs. Bill Bucklew. Members related stories of summer trips and activities and plans for the 1977-78 year were discussed. On October 3, the group met in the home of Mrs. George Bushong with Mrs. F. A. Rhoads and Mrs. Loren Longenbaugh serving as co-hostesses. Guests were Mrs. Jenny Oswald and Mrs. Robert Fisher. Mrs. Roy Clow, president, presided over the meeting. A silent auction plant sale was also held, which was directed by project chairman Fredetta Money. MRS. JAMES BRYAN McConnell, Bryan vows said in early October wedding
Miss Kathleen McConnell of North Vernon became the bride of James Bryan, son of John Bryan of 213 E Pearl Street, Syracuse, in an 11 o’clock wedding on Saturday. Oct. 1. at North Vernon. The bride is a 1976 graduate of Jennings County High School and attended Northwood Institute at West Badet. She ii employed at Holiday Inn, Goshen. Her husband gracjuatec in 1976 from Wawasee High School and this year from Northwiod Institute. He is also empkyed at Goshen's Holiday Inn.
