ANOTHER OF the photos loaned to us by the Paul Stoeltings of Syracuse shows the third grade class taught at Milford by Esther Horton nee Mrs. O. C. Stoelting. She is shown in the back row. The photo was taken about 1912. Anyone remember who the students were? OUR THANKS go to Bertha Wehrly and to Beulah Felkner who helped with the identification of the photo we ran August 10. Mrs. Wehrly, the former Bertha Neff, is one of the many persons in the photo. She has an identical copy. A LITTLE known fact about the Milford fire station is that breakfast is served there each Sunday a.m. The chefs are Wilbur Baumgartner and Fire Chief Bill Leemon. They cook for upwards to 25 men during the early Sunday morning hours with many of their “customers” being golfers. MAX DUNCAN of south of town recently installed a 21’ brock bin on his farm via volunteer help. Working with Max were Dean Cousins, Beer, Ed Vanlaningham, Bob and Jeff Hall, Steve and Alvin Haab, Will Scheiler and Jim Amsden. MILFORD TOWN board member Jean Treesh and her husband Glen are celebrating. They became grandparents for the eighth time recently. The reason for the celebration is that after seven grandsons they now have a granddaughter. Lea Renee is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Treesh of Goshen. She has a brother, Joshua. Maternal grandparents of the little Miss are Mr. and Mrs. John Singer of Warsaw. Our guess is that Lea Renee will be spoiled “pink!” FIRSTS-IN the life of Lakeland school bus driver Jerry Bushong seem to be connected with his son John. When young John began school several years ago his father began driving a school bus for Van Buren Township. In fact. John grew up to think his father was the only bus driver around as he was on his dad’s bus the entire 12 years of school at Milford. The first day the bus driver missed driving was when John graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree. We have yet to figure out how the young man managed to receive his master’s degree in August from Western Michigan and not pull his dad off the bus route again. He did, however, manage another first last Friday when be was married to Leesa Lanier in South Bend. The senior Mr. Bushong missed his first Wawasee High School football game in the history of the school. He came close to missing one last year but made it as be walked a niece down the aisle for her wedding, gave the bride away on behalf of her mother and made a quick exit following the ceremony for the Warrior field and a home game, missing only a CALLANDER INSURANCE All forms of personal and business insurance 155 W. Are you waiting until interest rates drop before you buy a home? Do you think that this will sove you money? The home you hove your eye on will cost you more in monthly payments two years from now — even if the interest rate drops one per cent. For example, take a home that costs $50,000. With a 20% down payment and financed with a 25 year 8%% mortgage, the monthly payment would be $322.00. But one year from now, if prices keep rising at the average rate, the now $50,000 home would likely cost $56,000. If the interest rate decreased to 7'A%. not only would the down payment be $1,200 more, but the monthly payment would increase to $331.08. H the

interest rate stayed at 8% %, the payment would come to $360.64. So. it’s obvious that the overall value of the home - not the interest rate - mokes the biggest impact on your monthly payment. Since there is no indication of property values decreasing the moral of the story is - buy now or pay more later. The Beer Bondi will WORK for you. See Wa wo see Village office or caR457*4495.
