Church youngsters to attend Camp Good News
This next Monday, a group of youngsters from the Barbee Community Church and their instructors will begin a fiveday camp at Camp Good News near North Webster. < It will be the third time church members will rent the camp from the Child Evangelism Fellowship for five days. "It has proven out to be outstanding," says Rev. Bryce H. Foster, pastor of the church. The camp is normally filled with children from all over Indiana, from various churches. Three years ago. Rev. Foster had a group of about 20 youngsters who wanted to attend the camp. Camp officials said there wasn't enough room for all of them, but they could accommodate a few of them, and for the pastor to select who would go. "I couldn't do that," the pastor recalls. So, it was decided to just rent the camp so that all those interested could go. "It was kind of a big step," Rev. Foster says, "but It's worked beautiful."

Attendance at the camp by the church has increased in the three year period from 30 to 48, who went to camp last year. Children age seven and up are eligible to attend. Rev. and Mrs Foster and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Searer will be serving as instructors at the camp, along with other adults of the church, who make up the staff. Between Monday, Aug. 22 and Friday, Aug. 26, the campers will follow a daily schedule. Mornings will begin with cabin devotions, then physical exercises and flag raising. Camp chores are next, with an inspection by Rev. Foster, who adds, as a former military man, he is strict. The cabins compete in contests to see who rates best during the daily inspections. Bible study and mefnory verses are studied for over an hour. Before lunch, the boys and girls have sports and swimming activities. Afternoons are spent

that day. "There's a fullness to it," Rev. Foster said, adding the activities are not just Bible, but include the physical activities as well. At 6 p.m. on August 26, a parents program will conclude at the camp. "We're trying to stress two things," the pastor commented. The first is to introduce the campers to Christ, and secondly, present the principles of Christianity. "We try to keep something going interesting and excite the kids and just ground them in the word a little bit more," Rev. Foster said.
