What is really needed?

Dear Editor: Do the citizens of this community really need a “signature campaign” to protest X-rated “Deep Throat” movies shown at the Wawa Drive-In? Many people would say that such movies are not moral, but on what basis should morality be judged? Most people would probably judge this on a Biblical basis, but what does Scripture say about judging such things? It tells us that God will judge such things which are “out there’’ in our community and that we (good moral Christians?) must judge that which is not moral within ourselves (church). If God’s Way would have been used down through the years, would there be as many "‘Deep

Throats” as there are today? If one were to check Scripture it could be learned that not only immorality but many other vices (sins) including levity (lightness of mind, character, behavior; lack of proper seriousness) are listed together as identifying those who “shall not inherit the kingdom”. Dare one say that “deep throats” and “shallow minds” are in the same category? Where can one go to find really “deep, serious minds”? True, there are some Sunday Schools where people can be serious and talk about “heavy” things for several minutes each week, but where are the people who make it their “life” to have “proper

seriousness” and “heavy minds’’? Nearly everyone can talk about sports, jobs, kids, weather, entertainments, or the best autos, but where are those who feel free to talk about what most would call “spiritual” tilings? Perhaps a “Prosecuter” is needed to force changes where they will have the greatest effect! Sincerely, Robert Stichter Grease causes fire A truck owned by Borden Waste-Away sustained S3OO in damage after a fire started in the engine compartment at 11:31 a.m. Saturday, July 23. Preliminary work begun on elderly housing project

Members of Leisure Living, Inc., Milford, met Tuesday morning and agreed to allow Jim McCleary, Warsaw, to do some preliminary work on designing the housing proposed for senior citizens. An architect’s agreement has been secured for a standard six per cent fee from McCleary. He will make some preliminary drawings available next week. McCleary has done some federally funded projects, including the Five County Mental Health Center. A firm from Cannel was not agreed to, as the work would require weekly inspections, and by using McCleary, who is local, the costs would be lower. The group is considering various properties in Milford to purchase for the housing. Paul Reith will meet with attorney Rex Reed tomorrow (Thursday) on finalizing the incorporation papers. About $3,000 in pledges and gifts have been received by the group and more than 50 persons in Milford have completed surveys stating they wish to live

in the housing. -’i Other construction considerations, such as building the housing in stages were discussed. Duplex-style housing, with two residents per unit was also discussed. In attendance were Mrs. Gladys Coy, Mrs. Bessie Sunthimer, Darrell Orn, Robert Greenwood, Paul Reith, Arloine Schoomaker and Kerry Price.
