Junior Merry Maidens see demonstrations

By MARLA WOLFERMAN The Junior Merry Maidens 4-H Club of Milford held its regular meeting June 21 from 3:20 to 5 p.m. The American pledge was led by Stacy Wall. The 4-H pledge by Belinda Burke. Treasurer’s report was given by Mrs. Buhrt. The health and safety report was given by Michelle Johnston on how to lay in the sun and what time is best. We talked about how important it is for the girls to be in the public and fashion review on August 1 at 7 p.m. We talked about food division and how they should take food to be judged. The club’s group and curtain act were invitedto the Kosciusko County Farm Bureau picnic. Peggy Burke gave devotions.

Methodist Church Senior High Institute will be held July 24 through 30, at Epworth Heights. Vacation Church School is being planned at North Webster United Methodist Church for children ages kindergarten through the sixth grade. Classes will be held from 9 a.m., till 12 noon, August 15 through 19. It will be held in the Milford Junior High gymnasium on Friday, July 15, at 8 pm. ABORTION RULING The Supreme Court ruled Jan. 22, 1973, that women have a constitutional right to abortion during the first six months of pregnancy.

Mrs. Tytler new judge Mrs R. C Tytler of Syracuse and president of the SyracuseWawasee Garden Club, recently returned from § district meeting held in South Bend. Mrs. Tytler is now a new student judge and was named chairman for a flower show to be held in Logansport on October 20, at the time of the district annual meeting.

Silver Thimbles meet at Dolls The July 11 meeting of the Silver Thimble Club of the Apostolic Christian Church of Milford was held in the home of Mrs. Arnold Doll. Mrs. Jesse Beer was the assistant hostess. A Bible will be placed in the church in memory of Miss Rosa Waldbeser “Happy Birthday” was sung for Mrs. Arthur Haab who will celebrate her birthday on August 4. “Happy Anniversary’” was sung for Mrs. Alvin Haab. Mrs. Jesse Beer and Mrs. Arthur Haab whose anniversaries are in August. No meeting will be held in August. “Let Freedom Ring” was read by Mrs. Arthur Haab and “America” was sung by the 22 persons present Mrs. Walter Wuthrich donated red raspberry jelly and a sale was held. A money gift will be given Mrs. Charles Weisser who was a hospital patient. She is now recovering at home. Guests were Mrs. Theo Beer. Mrs. Lee Beer. Mrs. Elmer Hartter and Mrs. Richard Casto. A recent housewarming was given to Miss Edna Lehman at her new home at 613 N. Lindberg Street, Warsaw, by the dub members. At the close of the meeting the hostesses served assorted sandwiches and strawberry floats. LEAGUE CONVENES Delegates from 41 nations met Nov. 15, 1920, in Geneva for the first meeting of the League of Nations. The most valuable gift you can give another is a good example. WCSC meeting held at the Syracuse Church of God

The WCSC meeting of the Syracuse Church of God was held last Thursday at the church with Gwen Williams and Clara Yeager serving as hostesses. There were 12 members present. Katlxyn Hibschman opened the meeting with a poem entitled, “Listening”, and Mrs. Williams gave the opening prayer. Committee reports were given and plans made for an upcoming bake sale. A thank you card was read from Florence Moore. A workshop is scheduled at Finley, Ohio, August 15-19, and persons wishing to attend should make plans before August 4. The July program was patriotic and Janet Elam gave the beauty care portion of the program on the tongue. “One Nation Under God” was the evening theme of the program presented by Mrs. Elam. Area residents arraigned in Goshen, arrested at party .

A number of area persons were among the 29 arraigned Monday in Goshen City Court. They were among 42 persons arrested at a 4th of July party in that city.
