Milford Boy Scouts hove a busy spring, plan for summer

Members of the Milford BoyScout Troop have been busy dunng the past several weeks and are currently making plans for future events A spring camporee was held in April at the Syracuse Scout woods An order of the Arrow tap out was held with Larry Harman, Jeff Peterson and Larry Flannery being tapped On May 7 the boys worked at the Scout Cabin on Waiibee bake The Farm Bureau Co-op donated paint and Doll's Decorating donated brushes The boys are disappointed that the cabin has been broken into twice since they worked on it A 20-mile bike-hike was enjoyed later in May. The annual bake sale was a huge success MAD donated a tent for the help the Scouts gave to the MAD Day event This year the Scouts sold popcorn It was reported to be a success with the boys planning another sale ntpd year Each boy was able to earn his way to camp through the popcorn sale

Peterson and Larry Flannery attended the Order of Arrow Ordeal The boys are making preparations to leave for Scout Camp July 3-9 Those who are going are Terry Powell, Kevin McDonald. Mark West. John Peterson. Don Green, Mike Benning and Larry Flannery June 11 a Corp of Honor was held with a campfire at the Scout Cabin A special program was the Menominee Muzzle Loaders Club of Bourbon They gave a demonstration on muzzle loading Several boys earned merit badges and are working on earning higher rank The troop is priviledged to have two boys attending the National Scout Jamboree at Moraine State Park in Pennsylvania m August They are Jeff Peterson and Larry Flannery They are looking forward to. an unforgettable experience as they meet Scouts from other parts of the world. A canoe trip is planned as an overnight outing in July. A 10mile hike will be held in August

Any boy interested in joining Boy Scouts should contact Dave Benning or Larry Harman Over 100 attend camp Larry Shroyer of Syracuse, was selected a star camper, along with several others, at the Elkhart County 4-H ers camp held at Camp Limberlost on Lake Oliver for three days this month. Also selected were Jenni Kline of White Pigeon. Mich.; Karen Penrod of,Goshen; Tammy Squibb of Elkhart; Steve Hochstjßk. Goshen, and Bill Burkholder. Nappanee. Jerry Biddle. Jr., of Elkhart and Kaye Saunders.
