Past Presidents enjoy wiener roast Members of the Past Presidents of the American Legion Auxiliary unit 226 met in the home of Hattie Becker and Hilda Ruch on Wednesday evening. June 15. A weiner roast with all the trimmings was served to the guests. During the business meeting Mrs. Lloyd Coy was elected to serve as president of the unit for the coming year. She will be attending the convention at French Lick later in the month. A social time was enjoyed. Favors were wrapped in newspaper and given the guests The packages brought many surprises and laughs. Twilighters Club meets in lake home of Richard Workmans Members of the Twilighters Bunco Club at Syracuse met last Wednesday evening in the Lake Wawasee home of club member Mrs. Richard Workman. Mrs. Donald Niles was co-hostess and Mrs Gerald Bitner, a guest. Plans were discussed to attend a show at the Enchanted Hills Playhouse in August. High for the evening went to Mrs Charles Searfoss; low and travel. Mrs Eugene Henning; and door prize, Mrs. Bitner. Mrs Searfoss will entertain for the July meeting, with Mrs. Bill Cobum assisting Wedding shower given A wedding shower and luncheon was held June 6, at the Maplecrest County Club, Goshen, for Miss Colleen Coy, Syracuse. The luncheon and shower was given by Mrs Robert W. Miller, Wheaton. 111., and Mrs Richard Kercher. Goshen. Miss Coy wed Wynn Schwalm, Syracuse, Sunday, June 19. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Smith of Syracuse. Pastor Waldo Gaby performed the double ring ceremony in the presence of 75 guests. Nancy Gaby provided nuptial music. The Bride The new Mrs Reith wore a white midi-dress with a bodice highlighted with pink and blue roses. She carried an arrangement of sweetheart roses with baby’s breath accented with pink streamers and a dainty veil headdress completed her attire Sue Overholser attended the bride She wore a tan midi-dress and carried sweetheart roses with greenery and pink streamers Rick Collins, a friend of the bridegroom, served as best man The bride s mother selected to wear a blue and white shirt suit Her corsage was white carnations with pink lace The mother of the bridegroom was attired in green print and her corsage was of white carnations with pink lace. Calvary United Methodist Church at Syracuse held its annual father and son banquet event last Thursday evening at Oakwood Park Hotel. Senior Citizens dinner not free A call this week from Amanda Davisson revealed the dinner for Senior Citizens at the Scout Cabin in Syracuse on July 1 is a picnic but is not a free meal. The picnic is being held by REAL and will be in honor of the 4th of July Miss Davisson is taking reservations and persons wishing to attend the picnic should contact her. Ebeneezer Ladies hold annual picnic Members of the Ebeneezer Ladies Aid. Syracuse, held their annual picnic Thursday, June 16, in the home of Minnie Doll. A total of 19 members and seven guests attended. Mary Harper, president, presided over the meeting and read devotions. Yearbooks were also passed out. The July meeting will be announced later

Underwoods to celebrate 50th anniversary Rev. and Mrs. A. C. Underwood, North Webster, will observe their 50th wedding anniversary’ Sunday. July 3, in the North Webster United Methodist Church. Rev. and Mrs. Underwood were married 50 years ago in Wichita. Kan. Pastor Underwood has served Etna-Troy-Oak Grove in W'hitley County; Mount EtnaJefferson Chapel and Majenica Circuit in Huntington County. Other churches include Ligonier; Bradley Memorial Church; Greenfield; First Church Peru; First Church Decatur; and Saint Joseph Church. Fort Wayne. The Underwoods’ three sons. Richard. Norman and William will be hosts at the reception which starts at 2 p.m. in the North Webster United Methodist Church where Rev. Underwood is assistant pastor. The 2 o’clock program in the sanctuary is one of “Remembrance and Thanksgiving,’’ to be followed by a reception in the church dining room. Mrs. C. D. Barnes hostess for the UM Women's group The Milford unit of the United Methodist Church Women met June 9 in the home of Mrs. Carlyle Barnes with Mrs. Alyce Fuller serving as co-hostess. Mrs. James Longfellow opened the meeting by reading John 3:16 and then giving an Old English prayer. The cookbooks of the unit were shown and those persons interested in purchasing any should contact Mrs. T. A. Miller, Mrs. Frances Vandergift, Mrs. Robert Ruch or Mrs. Robert Brooks Mrs. Bessie Sunthimer gave the lesson on the American Indian with the aid of films and narrative. The ladies sang, “Where Cross the Crowded Ways of Life” with Mrs. Marion Snyder accompanying. Mrs. Sunthimer closed by leading the group in reading “An Indian Prayer." The unit will meet on July 14 in the home of president Mrs. Dean Cousins at 12 noon for a sack lunch. Beverage will be supplied. Members are urged to take their families and enjoy the pool. Nancy Cumberland honored at shower Nancy Cumberland of Milford was honored at a bridal shower on June 10 by the ladies of the Turkey Creek Church of the Brethren's Circle of Hands Women’s Fellowship. Mrs. Jack Mikel and Mrs. Dan Smith served as co-hostesses for the event. Word games were enjoyed by the 23 guests in attendance. Walter Millers honored for their 61st anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Walter S. Miller of near Milford were honored on their 61st anniversary at a family dinner in the home of Mr. and Mrs Neal Cory on Sunday. Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Anderson was the setting for the recent wedding of Judith Ann Little and Robert Clark Jones. Rev. Joseph Ruffing officiated at the double ring ceremony. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Billy G. Little of Milford. The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Jones of Anderson. Shelley Kaiser. Muncie, served as maid of honor.
