Vmbaugh said the commission’s decision to delay action on the Don Byrd preliminary plat was at the request of Byrd’s lawyer. Richard VerWebe of Fort Wayne, when VerWebe noted the commission did not have a full member complement at the time. And. that it was the first time the Byrd issue had come before the Syracuse Plan Commission, and that the commission had not delayed in making a decision as the editorial stated. This being true, we apologize for the inaccuracies. Milford sixth graders conduct pollution poll
A total of 23 Milford sixth grade social studies students spent the last several days of the school year working on an opinion poll questionaire. Milford Speaks on Pollution.” The class is hopeful that the poll will be of help to the town board and is appreciative of the several citizens who participated Results will be given to the town board with persons who have ideas on improvements not listed asked to contact town board members The results erf the poll follow: The average age of the persons filling out quest ionaires was 48 with 44 being single and 132 reporting they were married. 45 were male while 126 were female A total of 137 listed their race as white with two listing race as Spanish-American. In answer to the question, "Do you consider yourself a person that is." the following answers resulted: Very concerned about pollution — 67 Moderatley concerned about pollution — 119 Not concerned about pollution - 2 J Five persons stated they had trash compactors m their home while 176 said no. Pollution in Milford is considered low by 125 persons, high by 56 persons, very high by eight persons In answer to the question. "Do you think it is right to litter on other peoples property?” 200 said no. one said yes and one gave no opinion Some 65 persons thought people should bum leaves and trash in town while 68 said no and 39 gave no opinion Asked if they thought most people are too careless with trash. 143 said yes. 41 said no and 19 gave no opinion In answer to the question. Under the section on what can be done 122 said they would be willing to help clean up Milford while 19 said no and 48 gave no opinion. Asked about donating money or paying more taxes to have people clean up Milford 51 answered yes and 66 said no while 72 gave no opinion In answer to the question. “Do you think the government takes strict enough measures to fight pollution?” 41 said yes. 94 said no and 45 gave no opinion Varied comments were given by those filling out th 4 e questionaire on good ways to fight pollution. Asked about other concerns the citizens of Milford listed mosquitos with some for controlling them and some against. Twenty-eight were in favor of street repair, 29 wanted youth activities and 14 were concerned about dogs Sixty-three persons gave no response at all.
