League tourney at Milford on Memorial Day behind Eric Beer's hitting and pitching. Eric struck out 19 batters in eight innings of pitching. He also hit two doubles and two triples, knocking in four runs and scored
five runs as the Tigers beat the Reds 16 to three and the White Sox seven to five. Pirates The Pirates won the girls championship by defeating the Indians 11 to six. Kandy Ringler and Myra Ruch each scored two runs for the Pirates. Denise Mast hit a home run for the Indians in a losing cause. Chicken barbecue was served throughout the noon hour to the hundreds of persons attending the festivities. The Cutie King and Queen contest was held at 11:30 under the direction of Thedia Rhodes with only 11 contestants turning out for this year’s contest. The new queen is Loralyn Krull, four, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Krull (rs r 1 Nappanee. The new king is Troy Rumfelt, four, son (rs Mr. and Mrs. Dane Rumfelt of 71025 CR 25 New Paris. Runners-up were Julie Hollar, five, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stan Hollar of r 2 Milford; and Spencer Lee Martin, four, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Martin, Jr., of r 1 Milford. Other contestants were Kelly Boggs, four, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Boggs of r 2 Milford; Teresa Musselman, four, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Musselman of r 1 Milford; Trisha Cumberland. 44, daughter of Mrs. Nancy Cumberland of r 2 Milford; Nicole Neff. four, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Neff of r 1 Milford; and Shawna Miller, five, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Miller of Dewart Lake. And. Shawn Krull, four, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Krull of r 1 Milford; and Matt Haab, four, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Haab of Milford. Obstacle Course A number of persons again enjoyed the obstacle course which began at 12 noon. Todd Boggs was first in the sixeight division with Phil Hahn coming in second and Kerwin Miller being third. Sharon Bohnstedt was first in the nine-11 division with Mike Hernandez second and Mike Sharp third Kelley Fifer was first in the 1214 group while Tom Troup finished second and Ernie Morris was third. Arnold Garza won the trophy in the 15-18 group with Sonya Hoover second and Leßoy Zartman third. In the 19-25 age group John Gardner 111 was first with Rich Leyendecker second and Pete Oliva third. Juan Villaneuva was first in the 26 and over group with Bob Cline second and Susie Hare third. , f Ewing has fead star in 'Oliver' Glen Ewing of Fort Wayne will be the lead star in "Oliver," the opening attraction at the Enchanted Hills Playhouse for the 1977 summer season Ewing has appeared as Winthrop in the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre’s production of "The Music Man" and also in their production of ;’AII The Way Home.” He will be leading a cast of Enchanted Hills Playhouse company members in addition to 10 young men from the Wawasee area "Oliver" is slated to run June 22-25 and June 29-July 2. Also featured during the season will be "Dames At Sea," July 6-9 and 13-16, "Charlie s Aunt,” July 2023 and 27-30; "Godspell,” August 3-6 and 10-13; and "Annie. Get Your Gun.” M and 2427

The float was sponsored by the American Legion's Junior Auxiliary. Members of the girls softball team are shown as they march behind the float. A number of units participated and a huge crowd lined the streets to watch as they passed in reivew.
Wawasee Ski Club plans for future
Election of officers and discussing plans for the coming year were two items on the agenda of the first meeting of the Wawasee Ski Club on Sunday, May 29. Newly elected officers include: President — Brian Simmons Vice president — Angie Long Secretary Cindy Schacht Float committee chairman — Sue Bollen Show director — Jamie Tully It was announced that the club is operating full force to help finish the ski jump. Jamie Tully will be gathering ideas for the Fourth (rs July Ski Show to be held on July 3. Sue Bollen is also collecting ideas for the Flotilla Float Two ski shows are being On Aug. 19, 1779, Light Horse Harry Lee led 300 patriot soldiers in a successful attack on a British post located in present-day Jersey City.
