June Oliver captures the SWCD ’Best of Show' honor
June Oliver, Jefferson school fifth grader, captured the best of show award in the sixth annual conservation poster contest sponsored by the auxiliary of the Kosciusko Soil and W’ater Conservation District. First place went to Jenny Sandy, Lincoln School; Missy Fox, Pierceton; Chris Stump, Atwood; and Bryan Grindle. Milford. The contest was open to all county fifth grade students. This
County retired teachers meet, enjoy musical program
The Kosciusko Co. Retired Teachers met recently in the Shrine Building at the fairgrounds in Warsaw for their first meeting of the year. Ninetythree and guests were present. Following the dinner and the presenting of door prizes, the meeting was called to order by president Colonel Likens After the opening ceremonies, program chairman Lester Davis introduced one of his former students, Sharon Coplen, to present a musical program. Sharon graduated from Warsaw High School this year. She has played in Europe and recently in the All-State Band Her presentation was on the

The Warner Restored School project was discussed and members were asked to visit the old historic schoolhouse in Qlarksville, North Webster sometime this summer. The next meeting will be held on July 12 at the Shrine Building at the fairgrounds. All members are asked to be [resent at the meeting and to take or invite any newly retired teachers. Reception given for graduated A graduation reception was held for Rick Perry in the home of his mother. WHS graduate named scholar NORTH MANCHESTER - Manchester College recently announced the names of 16 high school seniors who have been designated Manchester Scholars for 1977-78. The seniors, who are planning on attending Manchester as freshmen next fall, were honored by the college for their high quality of academic achievement in their high school careers. Among' those named was Michael Steffen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Steffen of Milford, a 1977 graduate of Wawasee High School. The scholarship award is based on the student's ranking in the top 15 per cent of his or her class and on receiving high scores on the SAT or ACT test. Regular meeting of Junior Merry Maidens 4-H Club By MARLA WOLFEKMAN Hie Junior Merry Maidens 4-H Club held their regular meeting May 17. in the Christian Church basement in Milford from 3.30 to 5 p.m The American pledge was led by Terry Jordon and the 4-H pledge by Marcia Sorenson. Demonstrations were given by Marla Wolferman. marble dogs; Marcia Sorenson, pistacio pudding; and Becky Wuthrich, potato salad. Georgia Ernst and Dorothy Gall, toured the printing plant of The Papers Incorporated last Wednesday. One of the classes was caught by our photographer as its members watched papers come off the press. The other two classes posed for their photo. The classes toured several places in Milford including the fire station, drug store and library.

1967 he was appointed assistant to the president and director of institutional research. A graduate of Manchester Cdlege, he received his master of science degree from Northern Illinois University and his PhD degree from Michigan State University. His area of specialization was higher education administration. Prior to joining the Manchester faculty, Fahs spent seven years in the Mount Morris, 111., school system as mathematics teacher and later as principal of the elementary and junior high schools.
This summer he will be completing a two-year program in college business management at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Theft investigated County police investigated the theft of a 10-horse motor stolen from a boat on Tippecanoe Lake last Wednesday. Everett Soderbery, r 1 Leesburg, had placed the motor on the boat May 22 and found it missing when he returned to the boat last Wednesday. The motor is valued at $l5O. CUBA RECOGNIZED , Chilean President Allende on Nov. 12, 1970, announced his decision to re-establish diplomatic relations with Cuba.
