YOUNGSTERS AT the Milford Elementary School enjoyed a visit from “Ringo” last week. He made a hit with every one. *Ringo is the pet racoon of Kerwin Miller. AS WE hear it Linda Garza, an avid Elvis Presley fan. wrote a letter to the super star and has received a return letter from Presley. WORD HAS been received that Jim Warner of Anderson was attacked as he walked down a street in that town carrying a sack of groceries on May 16. The man. known by many in Our Town, suffered lacerations to his lip and lost several teeth. He was treated in the Saint John’s Hospital. Police are still investigating the incident, where several boys threw rocks at Warner who continued to walk in an attempt to ignore them. One of the boys then struck him in the face.' THE FINAL month in our gardener's almanac is June — the first month of summer. It says, “Watering is a major chore this month, particularly if there hasn't been much rain. Be sure to wet the lawn soil deeply at least two or three times a week. Trees and shrubs, especially new transplants, need the equivalent of one inch of rainfall a week. “Start a spraying or dusting program for your tomatoes and check all other vegetables, flowers, ornamentals and trees for first signs of insects and plant disease. “Your roses will need feeding after their first bloom. For more blooms, be sure to cut roses from the stem just above a five-leaf cluster. “House plants can come outside now. For added color on your patio or terrace, try potting annuals and perennials.” MANY ATTENDED the MAD Day events at the elementary school this year and enjoyed the happenings there. The chicken was delicious! The cuties were as sweet as usual and it's almost a shame all of them could not be crowned kings and queen. A quick look at the addresses of the king and queen — Troy Rumfelt of New Paris and Loralyn Krull of Nappanee -7 indicates many from out of the area are participating in the festival. This is true, of course, however, it is also true that young Troy is the son of Dane Rumfelt and the former Carol Beer, both MHS .graduates. Loralyn is the daughter of Lester Krull, also a MHS graduate, and the former Carolyn Stauffer. This would indicate many are coming home for the hoiiday and are participating in the festival. We missed the sky diver at noon but understand he only missed his mark by a few feet.
