tfcJZlNjafW AROUND ? ow “How you gonna keep them down on the farm after they've seen Paree?” Remember that WWII parody? Twist that a little and you might ask. “How you gonna keep them in the classroom after they've seen that graduation?" The graduation you saw a week ago Sunday was for WHS seniors only, and had nothing to do with freshmen, sophomores and juniors. The problem: How do we keep Urose remaining interested in their studies through Friday,, June 3. "It Isn’t easy." reports principal Henry Smith. He puts a right index finger to his lips and says, "Shhh. don’t even mention that!" Now they tell us the big building at WHS is not the gym any longer, but the physical education building And to think we are just learning to say “school bus” instead of “school hack.” More on bumper stickers: One on the left stde of a rear bumper reads, "I’m a free style swimmer," and on the opposite side appears. "I like breast stroking But the one in S&uth Bend read, “God Made Notre Dame No. 1." Sally Hanson and little Mollie Maurine, only weeks old. are being seen around town Sal was formerly our Girl Friday, and a damed good one, too The Jack Masons left late last week for Aruba, the small Caribbean island not far from Venezuela. S. A., where Jack is pursuing an interest in a casino. And realtor Jack Wells makes a friendly reference to a competitor. stating. "He's a little like Robin Hood: he steals from the rich, only he keeps it and doesn't give It to the poor." We hear the local Klwanfli club rang up a big success in Its first project, a pancake and sausage breakfast, held Saturday morning at the Lakeland Youth Center. The eager young Kiwamans served 520 at the breakfast it attracted such dignitaries as former International Kiwanis President Loren J Badskey of North Webster, and district governor David Holderman of Goshen

The new Barth unit the Lakeland school corporation has purchased is bound to save the corporation money, so says athletic director Eldon Vmmel. School buses average 5 miles per gallon of gasoline and need a regular bus driver to transport athletes to events. The new Barth unit will transport smaller numbers of players, but a coach can drive the unit, and it will get more miles per gallon. Vmmel states.
