Almost half )f all cars stolen had the key in the ignition and most were not locked. While it is true no car is entirely theft-proof, there are certain percautions the auto owner and driver can take, various police and law enforcement agencies have outlined. — Don’t leave keys in the car ignition, even for “only a few Elkhcfrt County offering rewards on sign damage Keith Mast chairman of the Elkhart County Traffic Safety committee, has announced that stickers offering up to a S2OO reward are being installed on all city and county highway signs. The reward is for information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons stealing or defacing the signs. A grace period for return of regulatory and informational type signs will be in effect from May 15 through June 15. Signs may be returned to any law enforcement agency in the county without fear of prosecution until June 15. Groups that have volunteered to place stickers on signs to date include the Goshen Kiwanis, Fairfield FFA. Elkhart City Police Cadets, and the Elkhart County Extension Homemakers.
