NVITH GRADUATION slated at the ultra modem Wawasee High School this week end we thought this photo of the old Milford Public School, vintage 1907. fitting and proper to print. WHS students should be thankful for their beautiful building. This school was built in 1878 and was replaced by the current Milford! Junior High School building in 1914. HOW ABOUT that! The Papers Incorporated bowling team won the league championship on Tuesday night. W r omon on the team are Linda Musselman of the proofreading department; Betty Young of the typesetting department; Connie Smith and Betty Reeder, both former; employees; and Kathy Gilbert. Louann Michael and Sue Vanlaningham of the composing department both served as substitutes during the year. The ;boss now has a beautiful women’s bowling trophy to add to his collection. The guys have won two leiague championships in the past but this is a first for the gals. THE FOLLOWING letter was copied by the United Methodist Church in its monthly bulletin recently. It is reprinted here as food for thought: A letter to God. . . Dear God. I’ni certainly sorry that you made Sunday where you did in the week! You see, it’s like this — our dhole family could attend the church services more regularily if your day came at a more convenient time. You cho6e a day that: comes at the end of a hard week, and we are all tired out. Not only that but it’s the day following Saturday night, and well. . We find it almost impossible to get up on Sunday after staying up so late the night before. You chose the very day when we like .to'sfleep without being disturbed. miCre just isn’t another day when pe can do this because on other days we have to get up so we can go to school or work j .;■;■■■. 1 mean no disrespect. Dear Gdd, but you realize how important it is to have a big dinner on your day. The church fixed the hours of worship at the very time wljien we should be preparing the meal. And, after aU. we cannot disappoint visiting friends. jl’m writing these things, because I want you to get our viewpoint It really is not our fault that we cannot get to church on Sunday We would like to go but the day you chose is the wrong one. If you select another day. we would be in church and Sunday School every’ week But Sunday is the only day we have to ourselves i | Hopefully yours, I. M. Busy

WE ALMOST forgot to check the gardener’s almanac for May . . . here is a belated report: Your lawn should be in good shape. Keep on watering so that it’s well established before the hot weather begins. If dandelions are popping their heads up, eliminate them and other broadleaf weeds by applying the recommended spray. Prune spring-flowering shrubs while they are blooming or immediately after. Remember, the more you cut. the more the bush will bloom in years to come. If the weather and soil are warm enough, you can transplant the flower and vegetable seedlings you started indoors into your garden. This is the time to
