Area counties receive gross income monies Thirty-eight Indiana counties are being sent checks totaling $20,270,416 in county adjusted gross income tax collections. Donald H. Clark, revenue commissioner, reports. Os this money. Kosciusko County will receive $553,556 and Elkhart County will get $2,808,936.50. This distribution represents half of the “local option" funds to be returned to the 38 adopting counties this year. The law requires distribution of one-half the certified amount by May 1 of each year and the remaining half of the distribution by November 1. The law which created the tax established the percentage of the counties’ distribution which must be used as property tax replacement and which will go to the taxing units as "certified shares." These allocations depend upon each county’s adopting rate and the number of years the CAGIT has been in effect in each county. State police give April report Indiana State Police at Ligonier Post have announced the following end of month report for the month of April on their activities in Kosciusko County. Lieutenant Edward C. Anweiler. district commander, reports that five troopers and one sergeant worked 1.070 hours and patrolled 21,116 miles in the county. They investigated 10 accidents, effected 110 arrests, and issued 140 warnings They also assisted 43 motorists The Ligonier District comprises the seven northeastern counties of the state. Officers in the district conducted 85 criminal investigations which resulted in the arrests of 37 persons. Four persons have been fatally injured in rural accidents in Kosciusko County during the four months of 1977 as compared to three persons during this same period in 1976. For the seven county district, 22 persons have lost their lives in traffic accidents as compared to 25 persons this same period last year This is a decrease of three fatalities Power goes out Jay Peffley, manager of the Syracuse branch of Northern Indiana Public Service Company NIPSCo), said ppwer outages from last Thursday night s storm occurred, but were scattered. The Milford substation went out when poles with 69,000 and 12,500 volt lines at highway six and CR 23 went down.
