THE ABOVE photo of the Texaco Station on SR 15 in Milford was taken in July of 1941. It was recently given to station owner Bruce Hunsberger. The sign in the photo still stands at the station, noting Texaco service. The pump next to the station is for Indiana gas. The sign at the right denotes that the station was a stop for the Indiana Motor Bus. .And. who could overlook the six gallons of gas for SI.08! THE MILFORD EmergencyService group will be holding its monthly meeting on Monday. May 9, at 7 p.m. All persons interested in joining the group, either as an EMT or driver, are invited to attend. S» Like the ways of ships, are the ways of men As we journey along through life. It's the set of the soul that determines the goal. And not the Calm or the strife. REV CHARLES W Ballard, senior minister of Indianapolis Irvington Church since 1970, was named superintendent of the Indianapolis West District when major changes were made recently in the Indiana United Methodist ministerial leadership Ballard will be remembered by many as a former Milford resident and pastor of the Methodist Church here. His appointment takes effect on June 1. THE CLOWN, afforementioned in this column, is still inhibiting his stomping grounds of Milford. Several school children and others craned their necks when they saw the driver of the green station wagon — with the painted face! YOUNGSTERS FROM the Milford elementary school toured Chore-Time recently. Although there was much the children didn't understand they did learn that it takes many different people to make one feeder and it is equally important for each

person to do his job well to have a good product for market DON’T FORGET your mother on Sunday! , MEMBERS of the local Boy Scout troop are selling popcorn. They will use the money for camping this summer. EVERYONE WHO reads this column should plan on joining the gang at the Lakeside Park on Saturday for the clean-up day. If each of us gets busy and helps with this project the park will be ready to open on the Memorial Day week end with everything bright and shining. See you there! Outdoor work can be harmful Almost every American home has its gardening “bug.” And even if you have none, you still have dozens of little jobs to do to maintain your yard and garden Such activity can be an interesting as well as profitable form of recreation, and one which is comparatively safe. The American Medical Association points out that yard accidents occur more frequently to amateurs and younger gardeners than to experts or adults. Gardeners who are aware of the potential dangers are less likely to get hurt. Select garden tools with care. Use the right tool for the job at hand, and keep tools in good condition, clean and sharp. Dull tools are unsafe. Broken tools are dangerous. Rusty tools are difficult to use. Store tools in a safe place. At the outset of the gardening season, it’s important to remember to take it easy. If you've done nothing more strenuous than sit by the fire most of the winter t by all means take it easy for the first' few weekends. Give your muscles a chance to regain strength gradually, rather than trying to do too much the first day.
