Officials continue investigation for a bandit who sprayed Mace into the face of Jack Trammel, an assistant manager of Augsburger's Food Palace Store at Syracuse and made off with over $5,000 last Saturday night. Two pumps at the Pure Oil filling station were put out of commission Tuesday evening when a car driving north across the B & C tracks went out of control and careened into the pumps causing considerable damage and immediate fire. Parking lines from the corner of the square to Connolly and Thornburg stores are parallel to the curb sides of the street. On the east side of Huntington Street cars will be parked parallel to the curb. On the opposite side of the street they are to be parked nose to the curb. An enthusiastic delegation from Burket and vicinity came to Syracuse. Monday evening, determined to organize the taxpayers of Turkey Creek township as one of the units of the Hoosier Taxpayer Union. They succeeded. The lake home of Mrs. Ike Evans, the garage and practically all the household furniture were destroyed by fire. Tuesday morning, between 9 and 10. Pollywog Inn granted Sunday sales license The Pollywog Inn, r 2 Syracuse, was granted a new Sunday sales liquor license at the regular meeting of the Kosicusko County Alcoholic Beverage Board last Wednesday morning. April 13. The Inn. also known as L & R Inc., has already been operating under a liquor, beer and wine license since last Christmas. President of L & R Inc. is Theodore Deafenbaugh. Renewals Several liquor license renewals were also granted to area retailers. The Wawasee South Shore Club, Inc., r 4 Vawter Park Syracuse, was granted a threeway license renewal. The liquor, beer and wine retailer-Sunday sales permit went to T. M. Tuttle, president of South Shore, Inc. Another renewal granted for a beer, liquor and wine dealer’s license was approved for North Webster Liquors. Inc., 230 North Main Street North Webster. Charles Pryor, vice president of the company-made the request to the board. Also granted license.renewals were American Legion Post 253, Lake Street North Webster, for liquor, beer and wine retailerclub and to Frieda and Stan Reed. 112 South Huntington Street Syracuse for a beer and wine retailer license. Mr. and Mrs. Reed also asked the board about a manager’s permit. They were told to apply for a manager's permit at the Indianapolis office. FORD SWORN Gerald R. Goshen, Pickwick Theaters share the 'Pink Panther'

Herbert Lorn once again plays Chief Inspector Dreyfus in “The Pink Panther Strikes Again” with Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau. and manages to make the bumbling Clouseau seem like a normal human being. Resort hotel sold The Yellow Banks Hotel, on Webster Lake, has been sold to Mr. and Mrs. Domonic Novelli of Chicago. Doug Allen. Carol Burnett is honorary Clean Air Week chairperson

Appointment of comedy actress Carol Burnett as national honorary chairperson of Clean Air Week, scheduled May 1 to 7 by the American Lung Association, was announced by Richard Beall. managing director of the American Lung Association of North Central Indiana. “For most of the 11 years she has starred in her own TV comedy series, Carol Burnett ended each weekly show by reminding her audience to fight air pollution.” Beall said. “Now she’s helping the nation’s more than 200 lung associations remind Americans that the fight against dirty air requires constant effort.” Eight-year-old Tawyna Olsen of San Jose, Calif., represented the nationwide lung association in enlisting Burnett’s support for Clean Air Week. One of 54 grade school children who designed the 1977 Christmas Seals, Tawyna and other young "Christmas Seal People” throughout the US are assisting in the annual observance. “Although Miss Burnett considers her weekly air pollution reminder a small aid in the battle for breathable air, the lung association considers it a massive weapon in raising the national consciousness about inhaled chemicals and dirt.” Beall said. Beall said Clean Air Week originated in 1949 and for many years was co-sponsored by the lung association and the National Air Pollution Control Association. In 1976, The Christmas Seal People accepted sole responsibility for the observance. Clean Air Week commemorates the nation’s first documented air pollution tragedy in Donora, Pa., in which 6,000 people became ill and 20 died. Special meeting A special meeting of the Syracuse Plan Commission has been called by Bill Beemer, president of the group, for next Monday evening at 7 p.m in the town hall. Beemer called the meeting to retain a lawyer and elect officers. The minutes of the January meeting of the commission, where officers were elected, were not approved, due to lack of a quorum. The public is invited to the meeting MAD to meet The monthly meeting of the Milford Area Development council has been set for next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the fire station.
