soring Holy Week services for the community. These services will be held at the Christian Church beginning on April 3. HOW MANY read the article “It's all it's quacked up to be, really" in the Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette's February 27 issue 0 It is a very interesting feature by staff writer Sally . Bartholomew on the Maple l>eaf Farms southeast of Our Town. With the feature is a second article entitled "Down is up" asthe writer talks about the duck feathers which are a valuable byproduct. Also featured are a number of recipes — Roast, duckling ala ' Maison. Duxelle. fresh vegetable market, cherry duckling with almond rice and duckling quarters with sauerkraut and fruit — each using ducklings with exception of the Duxelle and fresh vegetable market which are necessary for the roast duckling ala Maison. MILFORD JUNIOR high principal Marion Acton is turning his attention to active local participation of events now that he is no longer officiating basketball. At 17, he is one of the best known basketball officials in the state, having officiated at four state tournaments, and countless games, sectional, regional and semi-state tournaments. He said this week, "I could have kept on, but there's a time to quit. I've enjoyed it and made some real good friends over the state m athletic circles." Acton has been principal at Milford for six years, is well liked and a good cltiien. He's taken leadership on the local park board and plans to reactivate lakeside Park. 808 AND Sally Wise and family are back in their own home this week after spending quite some time with the Art Wises after plumbing lines froze at their North Main Street home. MANY ENJOYED a visit with former Milford High School English teacher Lillian Kantner last Thursday when she and a number of her friends had lunch at Augsburger's. MAX BEER’S little gray Volkswagen has become a moving campaign bandwagon.
decorated with stickers. Two of them on the back proclaim “Get Us Out of the United Nations’’ and “Fire Kissinger”. Max is local chairman of the John Birch Society and he has become a vocal advocate of the right wing of political thinking. LAST WEEK we made a comment about the Wawasee Warriors and their not having won a sectional. All we can say this week is CONGRATULA TIONS BOYS! Now let’s win the regional. IT WAS 58 degrees last evening after the sun went down. Needless to say the area enjoyed a beautiful spring day with many enjoying the outdoors. MILFORD’S FORMER postmaster Eugene W. Felkner, a local history buff, came up with a small printed booklet on the town of Milford, printed in 1892. entitled "Reminiscenses, Views, Map and Directory of Milford. Ind." The piece was edited, compiled and published by H. H. Mclntire, of the Mclntire Portrait Company. Mclntire built the stately brick building which was located where the Milford Chapel Church is now located on South Main Street, and had his studio on the top floor, old time residents recall. Mclntire was a pioneer in the art of tin typing. The booklet is full of stories, advertisements, a directory and photos of Milford homes, most of them still standing. Anyone interested in the history of our town will want to take a look at this. It'll be in our office for inspection for a time. MRS. JOHN L. (Barb) Miller of out Dewart Lake way reports real Hoosier Hysteria at her house last Saturday as the family had two televisions and two radios going — each tuned into a different sectional tournament! A SURE sign of spring is all the area residents who are slowly but surely returning to their Milford area homes Lee and "Bud” Dippon of rural Milford returned to their home on Thursday following a six-week Florida vacation, and Bud. too, managed some good golfing time. Others returning are the RayBrays and Paul Kizers. Collision in lane change Approximately $650 in damage was estimated in a two vehicle mishap involving a car driven by 0. A.
