O X WINS TOURNAMENT — Stat th grade math students in Phil Metcalfs two math classes finished a math tournament at the Milford Junior High School. One winner was designated in each operation from each class. Then a playoff was held, with overa 11 winners determined by the best two oat of three match. The tournament winners are back left, Steve Bowler, overall: Kevin Jordan, multiplication; and Pat Hernandes, overall: Jeff Sorensen, division. Other winners are front, left. Kevin Coy, Ed Clayton win state FFA honors
The Wawasee Vocational Agriculture Department received word last week from the state FFA association that two of its members have been selected as state winners in the Indiana FFA Awards Program. Kevin Coy qualified for the Hoosier Farmer Degree, the highest individual award presented by the Indiana FFA. Only 2 per cent of the total Indiana FFA membership are eligible for this degree each year Citizenship, leadership and involvement in school, community, and FFA activities are the criteria used in selecting the winners. Kevin.is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Junior Coy. r 3 Syracuse. Judy and Amy Ferverda RECEIVES 4-H COUNTY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD — Brian Roberts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Roberts of Syracuse, was recently named the winner of a 525 Savings Bond for having the 4-H Outstanding Achievement Record Book in Kosciusko County. Brian's entry also won the county field crops division and is now eligible for stale competition. Brian is a fifth year member of the Syracuse Community Hands 4-H club.
Lakeland Music Festival to be held March 18
Lakeland Community School Corporation’s Music Festival will be presented to the public on Friday, March 18. at# p.m. in the Local students make dean's list at DePauw Todd Rand Stucky, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Stucky, of Syracuse and a sophomore at DePauw University, Green Castle, has earned academic distinction on the dean’s list. The scholastic recognition is extended to those students who earn at least a -3.5 (A-) or better grade average out of a possible 4.0 (straight A) average. During the first semester 441 of DePauw’s undergraduates —or 19.8 per cent of the student body — won dean’s list distinction. Announcement of the scholastic honors was made by Dr. Robert H. Farber, dean of the private liberal arts college.

After the meeting was brought to order by president Judy Wall and roll call and secretary reports were given by Becky Wuthrich, enrollment cards and coming events were discussed Mrs Robert Buhrt said cards were due in by March 1. A fabric party is being planned for March This is mainly for those girls in clothing. A presentation on how to give a demonstration was next given by Susie Schmucker. She pointed out how the leader and junior leaders grade on the presentations Hope Sipress then gave a demonstration on dish towel embroidery. The 4-H advisors council of the dub were also announced at the meeting. They are Mrs. Brian Wall, Syracuse and Mrs. Harlen Wuthrich, Milford. The Van Buren Township 4-H Board of Directors representative is Mrs. Wall Approximately 30 members attended the meeting. Wawasee High School gymnasium. The program will indude vocal and instrumental students from grades four through 12 presenting “A Salute to Broadway.” The annual music festival provides an opportunity for students from Milford Elementary and Junior High, North Webster Elementary and Junior High, Syracuse Elementary and Junior High and Wawasee High School to combine their talents for a public musical performance. County students named to dean's list at Indiana U.
Below are the names of Indiana University Bloomington undergraduate, students from Kosciusco County who made the dean’s list the first semesster of 1976-77 at Indiana University. These students, among 4,730, will be among those honored April 20, at the university’s traditional founder’s day program on the Bloomington campus. To make the dean’s list students must earn a 3.5 grade average or better (3.3 average for University Division students) County students graduate from Purdue University A number of Kosciusko County students were among the 1,299 students to complete degree requirements at Purdue University in December 1976. The December graduates, along with those who finished their studies in August 1976 are eligible to tuke part in Purdue’s 125th commencement in May.
