Sewer hook-up ‘flack’ talked over
, Tom Leonard of Harborside Condominiums told the Syracuse town board last night. “I’m really getting tired of all this flack." concerning sewer lines from the housing units Syracuse town attorney Robert Reed told the board the contract with Harborade was a binding one “In terms of this contract. A legal notice appears elsewhere io this issue of the paper giving tax rates charged for Uje year 1976. payable in 1977 The notice provides a table showing the tax levied on each SIOO worth of taxable real and personal property to each taxing unit Signed by county auditor Jean Northenor, the notice states the first installment is delinquent after May 10 with the second installment delinquent after November 10. The rates come from the office of Kathryn Teel, county treasurer All taxing units will pay state and county rates with civil and school rates also listed. The state rate includes the 0035 for the state fair board and .0065 for the state forestry program for a 1 cent rate. The county general fund rate is 295, the welfare rate is .08, the county health rate is 035, cumulative bridge .05, cumulative court house .15, cumulative jail 03 for a total county rate of M cents.

' Children's access to pornographic material, a talk on "blind trust," drug and alcohol problems were some of the topics discussed at the February 28 meeting of the Concerned Citizens Group. Wawasee High School Stating that junior high and grade school students have too much free access to pornographic material, a motion was made and unanimously passed to ask store owners to remove X-rated magazines from their shelves Area churches will also be asked to take a definite stand on this issue The group stated that protection of children, not censorship, is their intent . Stanley Grabowicz, high school discipline and counseling, told the group that both drugs and alcohol are becoming major problems He said the school’s hands are bed at practically every turn by the laws and parental attitudes. He said out of 10 “informational notes” sent to parents last week, he had not received one call. It was decided, though, that there is adequate drug education material in the schools. To Close Boston Street Reed suggested the board take affirmative action to limit their liability, on Boston Street. A Lakeland bus was reported stuck Tuesday morning in the street. Bob Farber, assistant street commissioner, said the school was notified not to use the street. The town board okayed the blocking of the street to through traffic and barracades are to be put up this morning. (Wednesday). Gravel will also be put at Third Street so the water will drain. Officers of the town signed a form assuring the town of continued receipt of revenue sharing funds. One visitor asked about the status of the Front Street bridge. Tranter said Lessig has talked with the county engineer and the engineer has been changed. Nothing new has come up except that bids have been received. Tranter suggests that any feedback be directed to the county commissioners. George Wisler. who resides on Frog channel, asked if that area could be annexed and the proper procedure to do so. Tranter said he would contact property owners and present a signed petition to the board, and have die property owners present at the board meeting when the board will take it under adCon tinned on page 2)

John Perry 'Citizen of the Year'
N. John Perry became Milford's seventh annual “Citixen of the Year” last Saturday evening when the Milford Area Development Council held its annual banquet in the fellowship hall of the Apostolic Christian Church. Perry, who was so honored because of the work he did in starting the Milford emergency unit, was taken by complete surprise His name was a closely guarded secret until MAD president Dennis Sharp revealed it as he read a citation during the dosing moments of Saturday evening's program The Milford druggist, who was on call during the evening as part of a three-man team for the Milford emergency unit, began shaking his head in disbelief as he realized he was the 1977 “Citizen of the Year.” Perry then took the receiver from his ear and gave it to a fellow EMT member to monitor calls while he went forward to receive the award His fellow townspeople gave lam a standing ovation as he was presented an engraved plaque
