Warriors drop 63-62 battle

By ESI ! KEEN The last two minutes of the Wawasee-Northridge confrontation were the sad ones for the Warriors as they lost grip on their lead for the first time all evening to drop the contest 63-62. , Once Northfields Chris Swanson bucketed two charity tosses one minute before the final buzzer Northfield was sitting on a 63-60 cushion. Wawasee’s Bryan Smith answered with a lay-up to move in 63-62 with less than 30 seconds remaining. When Smith out jumped Northfield’s Lindy Unger at the free throw line and Ken Patton took the ball and connected 46 J.D Carl for the would-be winning lay-up . . . which the hoop sadly rejected Leaping to a 19-10 quarter advantage | a Warrior victory seemed upcoming but troubled defense in the second stanza and only six free throws for the game took part in sealing their fate. By halftime the Warriors maintained a 33-26 lead During the third stanza Northfield penetrated Wawasee defense for a senes of shots under the hoop Hitting for 10-of--12 Northfield was able to move in 46-41 The Norseman kept pouring on the pressure and with two minutes to go achieved their first lead which was plenty to give them the game Mostly due to the third stanza drive the Norsemen ended up hitting 57 per cent on 27 of 47 shooting Wawasee hit 30-of-61 for 49 per cent Keith Cripe contributed 15 points and Bryan Smith gave 14 to the Warrior cause Nor«thfield’fc Dan Eads lead all with 23 while Samson added 14
