Harold L. Arnold Funeral services were held this afternoon (Wednesday) for Harold L. Arnold. 68. of South Huntington Street. Syracuse Mr. Arnold was a well-known area grocer Death was unexpected and came as a heart attack at 2:30 Sunday afternoon in Goshen General Hospital where he had been admitted on Wednesday and was undergoing tests. Mr. Arnold was born at New Paris on December 18.1908. a son of Melvin and Luella (Stump) Arnold His marriage to the former Mabel Strauss took place in 1932 at Milford, and she sur vives Moving to Syracuse in 1952 L Arnold started Arnold’s Grocery store on South Huntington Street and continued to operate the popular grocery until 1965 when fire destroyed the business. He then was employed as a* meat cutter at Klink's Market ih Syracuse, a position he still held at tbe r time of his death Mr. Arnold was a member Os the Syracuse Masonic Lodge and Saint Andrew s United Methodist Church. In addition to the widow, he {is survived by one daughter. Mrs Gordon (Barbara) Holley of the Goshen-Elkhart communitV; four grandchildren. Cindy. Michele. Mandy and Matthew; and one sister. Winona Lake in 1949 coming from Hammond. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to Mrs. Volkman and Mrs. Arnett are several nieces and nephews. Rev. Roger Johnson officiated at the funeral services held Monday at 1 pm. in the McHatton-Sadler Funeral Home. Marjorie (Felkner) Wagner Marjorie (Felkner) Wagner, 86, died January 7 in Los Angeles, of pneumonia following a sevenyear illness. In her lifetime, Mrs. Wagner was a poet whose work appeared in the Chicago Tribune as well as in the Indianapolis Star and the Chicago Herald Tribune. She also published a book of poems. “Alchemy,” in 1926 She was born in Milford on February 20,1890. to William and Amelia (Scarlott) Felkner She was married to Dr. Charles Wagner, who preceded her in death in 1967. She is survived by one son, William Wagner. Sherman Oaks, Calif.; two grandchildren, Mrs. Bobby Putnam and Mrs. Cordelia Frenger, both of Hunfirston Beach. Calif.; and three greatgrandchildren. Memorial services were conducted at the First Presbyterian Church during the regular church services. Interment was in Valley Oaks Memorial Park. Westlake Village. Calif. Carrie McFarren Mrs. Carrie McFarren 74, Milford, died Saturday at 6:30 pm. at the Fountainview Nursing Home. Goshen Shepwas born on April 21, 1902. to Adam and Alberta (Hammon) Schaaf She later moved from Warsaw to Milford in 1938. after marrying Presh McFarren on March 15, 1921. Mr McFarren died November 17, 1962. Mrs McFarren was a member of the Bethel Church of the Brethren, Milford: Survivors are a son. Doral, Milford; a daughter. Mrs. James (Betty Lou) Witman, r 2 Milford; two step-sons, Seth McFarren, Milford. Paul McFarren, Pierceton, two brothers. Carl Schaaf, Yucaipa. Calif.; Cliffton (Tip) Schaaf. Madison. S. D.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Six brothers preceded her in death. Services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p in. in the Bethel Church of the Brethren, Milford. Rev. Orvil Kilmer and Rev. A. P. Wenger officiated Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Pierceton. Mrs. Joseph Miller Funeral services were held this morning (Wednesday) for Mrs. Joseph (Saloma) D. Miller, 72, of Goshen, step-mother of Sam Miller of Syracuse She had resided with her son. Olen R. Nisley, while ill the past one and a half years. Mrs. Miller was born April 30,
1904. in LaGrange County to Mr. and Mrs. Daniel B. Milter. On December 7, 1922, she married Amos J. Nisley, who died December 4, 1966. She then was united in marriage to Joseph J. Milter on March 31, 1968. He survives. The deceased was a member of the Old Order of Amish faith. Survivors include her husband, Joseph; four sons, Daniel Nisley of Bristol. Jonas A. and Olen R. Nisley, both of Goshen and Irvin Nisley of Rome City; two daughters. Mrs. Clair (Anna Mae) Adams of Portland. Oreg, and Mrs. Harvey (Lydia Ann) Eash of Howe; five step-sons. Elmer J. and Jonas Miller, both of Shipshewana, Jacob Miller of White Pigeon, Mich, Joe Milter, at heme and Sam Miller of Syracuse'; two step-daughters, Anna and Ida Miller, both of Shipshewana; 30 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 20 step-grandchildren, Also three sisters survive, Mrs. Sam (Ada) Chuppand Mrs. David (Barbara) Yoder, both of Goshen and Mrs. Erma Hershberger of Millersburg. Bishop Henry Yoder and Rev. Simon Schmucker officiated at the services held in the Melvin Nilley residence. Burial was in the Nisley Cemetery near Goshen. Fawn T. ShpH Fawn T. Shull, 66, died in her home at 410 North Franklin St., Mentone, at 6:30 p.m. on January 29. She was born JulyjS, 1910, to James and Lest a DeFord in Warsaw. On February 28, 1945, she married Alva Shull. Mrs. Shull had resided in Mentone for 25 years. Previously, she lived in Etna Green Survivors include her husband, Alva Shull, Warsaw; two sons, Richard Gross, Key West, Fla., John L. Shull. Warsaw; two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Shirley) Nicodemus, Casa Grande, Ariz., Mr. Ralph (Sandy) Wocnicki, South Bend , two brothers, Devoe DeFord. El Cajon, Calif., James DeFord. Tampa, Fla.; two sisters. Mrs. Ernest (Glada) Busenberg. Elkhart. Mrs. Lester (Gwen) Skinner. Syracuse; and nine grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at the King Memorial Home, Mentone. Interment will be in the Mentone Cemetery. Mrs. Fred Bontrager Mrs. Fred (Irene) Bontrager, 80, 2014 East Lincoln Ave., Goshen, mother of Fred W. Bontrager. Jr., Syracuse, died Saturday, Jan. 29. in the Goshen Hospital. She had been ill for several years. Mrs Bontrager was born to John and Mary (Ream) Moon in Goshen on September 4,1896. She was united in marriage to Fred W Bontrager. Sr., who survives. Other survivors include one daughter, D. D. Helen Bennet of Warsaw; three other sons, Ralph J. of Las Vegas, Nev., Hubert E. of Cedar Crest. N. H and Donald of r 2 Wolcottville; 15 grandchildren and 21 greatgrandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Yoder-Culp Funeral Home in Goshen. Rev.*G G. Waun of the Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church officiated. Interment was in the Elkhart Prairie Cemetery.

their first child, a daughter named Brandi. Mrs. Russell is the former Roxie Vanlaningham of Milford. Brandi tipped the scales at five pounds. 11 ounces when she was born on January 26. She measured inches long. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Vanlaningham of Gusher, Utah, formerly of Milford. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Loral Russell of Las Vegas, Nev. Mr. and Mrs. Merle Campbell, Sr., of Milford are the infant’s maternal great-grandparents. SPEICHER, Trischa Lynn Mr. and Mrs. Tom Speicher of Indianapolis became parents erf their first child, Trischa Lynn on January 27. The infant weighed seven pounds, two ounces at birth and measured 20 inches in length Trischa was born at 12:40 p.m. in Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. George Sheets, r 2 Milford. The paternal grandparents are also of r 2 Milford, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Speicher. Maternal great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Devon Richman and Mrs. Charles Sheets, all of Nappanee. Paternal great- I grandparents are Mrs. Pauline Speicher and Mr. and Mrs. Theo Beer of Milford. Mary Jane Silveus, 15, r 1 Syracuse, suffered pain in the lower back, right arm and bead when a jeep truck she was a passenger in rolled over on CR 29, one half mite north of the Elkhart-Kosciusko County Line Road, on Tuesday at 7:58 p.m. Aslo suffering injuries in the accident was another passenger, Jacqueline Mangus, 15, r 4 Syracuse. She complained of soreness in the chest, stomach and head. She also suffered a slight laceration on the right hand. Both girls were taken to the Goshen Hospital. Carol Fulford, 19, 3074 S. Cavin, Ligonier, was transported to the Goshen Hospital Wednesday, Jan. 26, after suffering severe pain in the lower right abdomen while staying with friends at r 1 Enchanted Hills, Cron well. Mrs. Ron (Deanna Faye) Church, 20, r 1 Syracuse, who was nine months pregnant, began labor Thursday at 2:18 a.m. and was transported to the Goshen Hospital. Louise Murray, 48, r 4 Syracuse, was taken to the Goshen Hospital Friday at 11:58 a.m. with a possible fracture of the right ankle. Mrs. Richard (Dixie) Doerscher, 21, r 4 Syracuse, who was pregnant and due December 20, began labor and was taken to the Goshen Hospital on Saturday, Jan. 29. Debra Rensberger, 24, r 2 Syracuse, suffering dizziness and difficulty breathing was given oxygen by the Syracuse aidmen on Saturday at 12:44 p.m. Dan V. Rop, 31, and Penny Rop. 28, both of 218 S. Lake, Syracuse, were transported to the Goshen Hospital on Saturday at p.m. after suffering dizziness and vomiting from exposure to carbon monoxide for over 24 hours. Mrs. Ed (Sharon) Leamon, 31, of 313 E. Boston St., Syracuse, suffered from internal swelling due to hives on Saturday, Jan. 29. She was taken to the Goshen Hospital at 7:03 p.m. Paula Granger, 34, 518 S. Main St . On January 30 there were two separate runs each transporting one man complaining of severe chest pains. Also, on January 30, a woman who was injured in an auto accident in December was transported from the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne to her home. Hospital Notes Keith Koble of Ligonier, formerly of Syracuse, underwent heart surgery Wednesday, Jan. 19, in the Memorial Hospital in South Bend. He was removed from intensive care and is recuperating in room 317. MRS. NEWHARD HAS SURGERY June (Davis) Newhard of r 4 Syracuse is currently con-\ valescing in the Passavant Pavilion at the Northwest Memorial Hospital in Chicago. SR 13 collision scene Timothy H. Hopkins, 25, r 1 North Webster and Charles W. Gross, Jr., of Goshen, were involved in a car-truck collision on SR 13, east of CR 500 N, last week. Further details of the incident were unavailable, but damages to the Hopkins car were listed at S3OO and the Gross truck at $225.
