The center will open at 9 p.m. until 11 p in. after the remaining four home basketball games on the Wawasee schedule. The night will feature pizza, sandwiches, shakes, fries, cokes, etc., all for just a quarter. This is a night for any student and or his or her family in the Lakeland Community School Corporation. There will be a record hop for the kids and a quiet corner for the parents. Don’t just sit around and complain that there is nowhere to go after the game. Join the crowd at the center. Parents can drop their kids off and then pick them up at 11 p.m. But please pick them up at 11, it gets cold on the outside after 11 p.m., said Dan Caskey. Pee Wee Players To College Game The Lakeland youth center wiH take all Pee Wee basketball players to Tri-State University in Angola to see a college basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 5. All players will leave from the center at 5 p.m. and return by 10:30 or 11 p.m. The Tri-State Trojans are one of the best small college teams in the area and currently have a 17-3 record for the year. The trip will cost the Pee Wee players nothing but they may want to take along some cash for cokes, popcorn, or other refreshments. Any parents who want to go along are also invited. End year with Corp of Honor
Boy Scout Troop 747, Milford, ended 1976 with a Corp of Honor on December 11. Scouts and their families went caroling on a hay wagon, with music played by the boys on their instruments. Those who received progress awards are Jeff Peterson, Tenderfoot; Larry Flannery, Tenderfoot; Mike Benning, Tenderfoot. The scouts, along with leaders, went to the Klondike Derby at Vinegar Bend on the Tippecanoe River. The Milford Troop took second place in the sled judging. In attendance were Jeff Peterson, Jon Peterson, Don Greene, Bob Greene. Terry Powell. Kevin McDonald. Mike Benning, Larry Flannery, Dave Benning and Orris Flannery. Scheduled 1977 activities are:
Pierceton wins junior tourney
The Howard brothers. Ralph and Randy, rebounding and scaring, led Pierceton Junior High to victory in the Lakeland Corporation Four-Team Tourney at Syracuse Saturday. Between them they tallied 21 points in the opening victor) - over Milford and 18 points in the championship over North Webster Pierceton’s opening victory over Milford was a see-saw battle all the way. The game was tied at the end of the first quarter, but Pierceton surged to a six point halftime lead. Nick Johnston hit four baskets in the third quarter to send Milford into a four-point lead, but Ralph Howard answered with 10 points in the last quarter to give the Cubs a victory, Pat Speicher led Milford with 18 points. North Webster advanced to the finals by stopping Syracuse 40 to 31 in the opening game. Eight players scored for the Trojans as Gymnasts edged out By TERRI HOLTZCLAW The Wawasee gymnastics team hosted their first home meet against West Noble Monday night. The beginning division were the only competitors, while the intermediates and optionals performed exhibition. Winning beginning vaulting for Wawasee was Kelly Price, with a score of 5.06. Judy Knudsen placed third with 4.75. For the uneven bars, Sandy Rinker placed a well-earned first with 4.70. Ronda Hickman came in third with 4.15. In beginning balance beam. Sandy Rinker was third with 3.40. In the floor exercise, Jenny Boyer placed a fine second with 4.95 and Ronda Hickman placed third with 4.10. In the intermediate division Sharon Kortenber was first in vaulting with 4.90 and Kathy Brouwer was second with 4.65. Kortenber scored 3.95 on the uneven bars as Brouwer took over the balance beam with 3.70. Brouwer took floor exercise with 4.85, as Kortenber scored 4.00 for a second. In the optional division Freshman Tracy Rinker took over top scores on each apparatus. Her scores were vaulting, 7.95; bars. 8.60. beam. 8.40; floor, 8.60. Kathy Yoder scored 5.25 in vaulting and she took second on bars with 3.70. Boody Brewer placed third on the bars with 3.05. Nancy Amos had 5.05 on beam bringing her a second. Rhonda Byrd was second on floor with 6.60 and Barb Yoder was third with 5.45. The girls’ next meet is Thursday at Wabash.

February 4, during Boy Scout Week, through February 12; Lincoln pilgrimage at Fort Wayne, February 11; and attend as a group Milford United Methodist Church services on February 13. Regular meetings are January 31. February 7, February 21 and February 28, at 7 p.m. Tentative activities being planned are a family roller skating party, bike hike, 10 mile hike, annual bake sale and canoe trip. The championship game started as a defensive struggle, as Pierceton held a slim 12-8 lead over North Webster at halftime. In the third quarter, the Cubs came to life as their fast-break offense fired in 10 points and quickly put the Trojans in foul trouble. The fourth quarter saw Pierceton widen the gap as three Trojans fouled out. Milford defeated, Syracuse in the consolation game 47-43. Pat Speicher scored 21 points and dominated the backboard for the Trojans. Brian Brannock and Ron Cripe led Syracuse with 14 and 13 points. Syracuse will have a match at Milford this Thursday at 6 p.m. in the final regular season game for both teams. Warsaw wins tourney Saturday proved disastrous for the Warriorette basketball team as they attempted victories in the Concord tourney. They were set back by Concord in the first game 39-43. ' Junior Teresa Carpenter stole the scoreboard for Wawasee with 20 points as senior Cheryl Skelton scored nine. Wawasee also fell short in the consolation game to Fairfield 3235. High point persons for Wawasee were Kathi Replogle with 12 and Mary Kitson with 10. The championship was won by the Warsaw Tigers, when they defeated Concord 45-39. Two sessions of three hours each will be presented by the cooperative extension service. Similar classes are being conducted in other area
vocational agriculture departments. If a person needs to attend either session, he should plan to - be present. Any person applying pesticides will soon need to be licensed. This applies to commercial applicators as well as noncommercial persons applying the pesticides on their own. These two sessions will provide the necessary training: in order to qualify for this license. Both classes will be conducted in the Wawasee vocational agriculture Classroom in the ag-auto annex building, beginning at 7 p.m., on February 7 and February 14.
