Mrs. Noah Gabbard Mrs. Noah (Nannie Jane) Gabbard, 71, formerly of r 1 Goshen, died at 9:30 am. Sunday at the Orn nursing home in Milford. She had been a patient there since April. Mrs. Gabbard was a native of Rock Castle county, Ky.. born January 17, 1905. She moved from Berea, Ky.. to the Goshen area 25 years ago. She married Noah Gabbard on December 21, 1920. He preceded her in death in 1971. The deceased was a member of the First Baptist church at Goshen Surviving are one son, Clifford of Tucson. Ariz.; nine daughters. Mrs. Charles (Mildred* Cotton and Mrs. Frank (Norma* Lower, both of Sebring, Fla . Mrs Terrill (Evelyn) Rhodus. Tucson. Mrs Cletus (Juanita) Bailey, Mrs Leonard (Manie* Evans Mrs Ray (Margaret) Ross. Mrs Glade (Lyda) Boomershine. Mrs Melvin (Betty) Eash and Mrs. Bruce (Etta Faye) McKibbin. all of Goshen; 29 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:30a.m. today (Wednesday) in the Yoder-Culp funeral home at Goshen Rev Louis Showers of the First Baptist church and Rev Jack Oxennder of the Jefferson Brethren church will officiate Burial will be in the New Paris cemetery Memorials may be made in Mrs. Gabbard’s name to the Orn nursing home at Milford Glen E. Dider Services were held Monday for Glen E. Dider. 83. of Elkhart and father of Martin A. Dider of Syracuse Death came on Thursday in Goshen hospital A retired New York Central engineer. Mr Dider was bom September 3. 1893. m Elkhart His marriage to the former Ruth Martin took place m New Pahs m 1933, and she survives Mr Dider summered at Syracuse Lake for over 40 years and was well-known in the Syracuse community He was a member of Kane Masonic lodge and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen Also surviving, in addition to the son and widow, are two grandchildren Interment was in Grace Lawn cemetery Mrs. Orville Peterman Lillie Faye Peterman, 74. of North Webster died Fhday, Dec M, in the Miller’s Merry Manor nursing home in Warsaw She had been ill lb months Bom in Bluffton on March 5, 1902, she was the daughter of Wren and Effie (Lutz* Mcßride She was united in marriage to Orville R. Webster in 1955, Mrs. Peterman was a member of the Mock Christian church in North Webster Survivors include one son, Raymond Peterman of Malta. 111.-, six grandchildren; one great grandchild; two stepsisters. Ky . on February 14. 1904. the daughter of Mason and Amanda (Sayler* Jackson She married William M Hackworth on March 23.1923 He survives She was a member of the Pleasant Valley church at Rose Hill and had lived in the Claypool area for 35 years Surviving with the husband and Leesburg son are two other sons, Carl Ray of Warsaw and Robert of Claypool; two daughters. Mrs Ed (Earlene) Stanley of Indianapolis and Mrs Ben (Geraldine* Barnhart of Warsaw; two brothers one sister 13 grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren One daughter preceded her in death. Fisher, of r 4 Syracuse. Death came at his home at 12:10 am. on December 25 and was due to an apparent heart attack following an extended illness. 5 YEARS AGO. Dec. 22. in the Goshen hospital. 16 YEARS AGO, DEC. 28. 1966 Syracuse residents sat upright in their chairs Tuesday night as they watched the Walter Cronkite news broadcast at 6:30 and saw a face they easily recognized. Capt. James C. Connolly 11, serving in combat in South Viet Nam as an American advisor was interviewed on the channel 22 nationally broadcast news show by correspondent Morley Safer. Mr. and Mrs. James Mench and sons of Hunicutt Grove, Syracuse, entertained Sunday, Dec. 18, in their home for the annual Knisley family Christmas dinner. 26 YEARS AGO. DEC. 27. 1956 Mr. and Mrs. James LeCount and two children. Stephen and Kathy Sue. of Huntington, spent Christmas Day with Mrs. LeCount’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Noble Myers. In a beautiful holiday setting at the First Christian church, Goshen, Miss Frances Phend became the bride of Dr. Stanley L. Carr Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Georgia Miller entertained her family at breakfast Christmas Day. The group spent the remainder of the day at the Richard Miller home. Besides Mr and Mrs. Miller and children, Tom and Michelle, there were Mrs. Miller’s parents and aunt from Logansport, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Willis and Mrs. Varsel Munson; Mr. and Mrs. Perry Ort of Churubusco, and Mrs. Ort's mother, Mrs. Ada Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Harkless had a family party Christmas Eve. which included Mr. and Mrs. Merle Harkless and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Appenzeller and family. During the evening Pete Harkless phoned from Florida and talked to each one.

US Air Force "DEP" volunteer Daniel Oren Walker, son of Mrs. Ruth A. Pounds of 107 S. Harrison. Syracuse, enlisted in the US Air Force’s delayed enlistment program today (Wednesday) according to T. Sgt. Robert L. Brooks, air force recruiter in the South Bend area. Daniel, a 1977 graduate of Wawasee high school, is scheduled for enlistment in the regular air force July 1977. Upon graduation from the air force's six-week basic training course, he will receive technical training in the general aptitude area. He will be earning credits toward a career education certificate through the community college of the air force while attending basic and other air force technical training schools. Milford woman escapes injury A Milford woman. Penny A. Johnson. 29. r 1 escaped injury when the car she was driving rounded a curve on icy roads, went off the left side of SR 15 and down an eight-foot embankment. The accident happened at 3:03 p.m. north of CR 29 in Elkhart county. The car, which came to rest on its wheels, was damaged approximately S6OO. The accident was investigated by county patrolman Dean Neterer.
