The meeting will be held at the elementary* school in Wanatah, one-half mile south of US 30 on Indiana 421. The program will run from 9:30 am. until 2:30 pm CST <10:30-3:30 EST) with lunch provided at the meeting. Reports from the Pinney research center should be of special interest to NW Indiana fanners, since soils and climatic conditions are typical of this area. A new system for foliar feeding soybeans has been developed in lowa and was tested throughout the com belt for the first time in 1976. Yield results and costs will be presented at the meeting. Double cropping soybeans after wheat is a risky business in northern Indiana, and many failures were noted in 1976. Seeding beans in the wheat before it is harvested, through aerial or no-till seeding, has been a promising practice in trials at the Pinney center. 1976 results will be summarized in the report. Two controversial .chemicals used in com production are still being evaluated in NW Indiana N-SERVE, an additive to ammonia fertilizer, and Dinitro, a bio-stimulant sprayed on corn two to four weeks before tasseiing, have shown a mixed response throughout the corn belt. However. Indiana trials continue to show promising results Latest results will be reported at the meeting Other reports will cover weed, insect and disease problems, irrigation potential in northern Indiana, and effect of new water quality standards on Indiana farmers All specialists will be available during the lunch hour to answer individual questions on chemicals, varieties, and fertility. The meeting is sponsored jointly by the Indiana Cooperative Extension Sen ice in NW Indiana and the Purdue agricultural experiment station
