Why so few?
Dear Editor: Many good things have been said in the "Worship Window", but what about the many things which have not been said which are so important according to the Bible? Also, why are so few of these things put into practice today among those who profess to "believe” in them? Asking it another way, why isn’t

Christianity what the Bible says it should be? A few examples: The Messiah came to bring "peace". Where is the peace among those who claim to be a part of him? True, not all Christians have “war" among themselves, but there are quite a few Christian families which do.
What about Christian nations? The Messiah said that after he left this world, Christians would be the “light" of this world, but why is there so much "darkness” in Christianity? Don’t Christians sin the same sins as those who do not profess Christianity? The Messiah said that Christians are the "salt" of the earth. Salt makes things better or keeps things from becoming worse (preserves!. Is this world really better because of today’s Christianity? Is this world being kept from becoming more evil because of today's Christianity? What does the Bible say about salt which is no longer able to do what it was made to do? The Bible says that the Messiah is able to keep Christians from sinning, but whydo they continue to sin? It also says that when he “frees" one from sin, that person is truly free from sin. Isn’t it true that today Christians seem to be more free
TO sin than free FROM sin? It also tells about those who hunger for righteousness who will be filled and satisfied. Why is it that Christianity teaches that there dare not be any righteousness when the Bible
Keep the public informed
Dear Editor: I think that you will have to agree with me that in many areas, the newspapers have assumed that it is their duty to keep the public informed — the public has a right to know! In line with this, why isn't your newspaper keeping the citizens of this area informed regarding the zoning ordinance being prepared by Latz Associates for this area? Do we need them, or should we put their fire out before it becomes uncontrollable? Is this really a good ordinance
says that the UNrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom? Is it any wonder that Christianity is “losing out" in this world? Sincerely: Robert Stichter
for our community? How many of our rights are we going to lose? Are we going to have federal controls and do we want it? Does this ordinance benefit the few who want zero growth? What is going cm? What is this ordinance going to cost us taxwise? I hear of a number of law suits being planned against the town as soon as this ordinance is passed. Who is going to pay for these — we innocent taxpayers? I have been unable to find out just what they are really doing and what all this ordinance will
contain. What about our right to know? Let s have some pertinent information and soon! Sincerely, (L. B.) Concerned Citizen Area residents booked at the county jail Two area residents were booked at the Kosciusko county jail Thursday, Nov. 25, on unrelated charges. Pauline M. Gomez, 48, of 207 Chicago St., Syracuse, was booked and released for driving while under the influence of intoxicating beverages and reckless driving. A North Webster man, Lawrence D. Pontius, 19. was booked and held on SIOO bond for failure to appear in court.

THE TURKEY most Americans enjoy today comes from a breed we got from England, which got it from Spain which got it, originally, from the Aztecs. With Thanksgiving behind us and all that left over turkey in refrigerators of area families, we could not resist this tid bit on the bird! IT WAS nice to find out that people are reading The M-J! Several people noticed that only Dewey Fox was listed as a guest at the Golden Rule class party in an article in this paper last week. It should have read Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Fox. Ida was with him. Guess the gremlins were at work again ... but then if they had not been we would never have known how many people really do read this paper. ONLY 24 days left until Christmas! This reporter got a chuckle out of a cartoon that crossed the desk this week. It read, “You’ve got 23 shopping days left to buy MY present!” Isn't that the feeling many have at this time of the year? What am I going to get! What ever happened to “what can I give?” Webster says Christmas is “a holiday on December 25, celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.” The dictionary further states that a “gift" is “something given to show friendship, affection, support, etc.” This Christmas, let's all show our love for the Christ Child by giving to others ... be it from friendship or the will to help and not have a “what am I going to get” attitude. It will make for a happier, merrier Christmas! SENATE REPUBLICANS of the Indiana General Assembly are going to have to learn to make a fine distinction — that is, the difference between John F. and John B. Augsburger. John F. is the outgoing state senator and John B. is the incoming. Everyone who knows the two men knows this, but already there’s a confusion that’ll have to be corrected. HAVE YOU noticed the cash register at Milford Shoe and Clothing. It is of 1905 vintage and is made of brass.

Store owner Eldred Mabie says he and the cash register are the same age. FOR ALL our friends who have left for the sunny south. it'B snowing in the Lakeland area and we should have a real winter wonderland if it keeps up! DON’T FORGET the Lions grapefruit and oranges have arrived. The fellows use profits from the sales to benefit the town.
