Efficient Homemakers hold anniversary dinner party

The annual anniversary dinner party of Efficient Homemakers home extension club was held recently at an Amish home near Nappanee Cohostesses for the party were Sue Niles and Cindy Heckaman. Tables were decorated with fall colors Appetizers of cheese, crackers and apple juice were served by the hostesses. Linda Taylor gave devotions entitled “Being Thankful At Thanksgiving ”, Sue Niles read ‘‘Thanksgiving Sayings'. The program was given by Betty Gangor and Pauline White They presented a "Comic Skit" with humorous anecdotes about each of the members During the short business session the group voted to make a donation to charity Plans were discussed for providing Family Sharing Service' held at Christian church A “Family Sharing Service” is heki the second Sunday evening of each month at North Webster Christian church The service starts at 7 p m There is special music, articles, poems and testimony, all shared on a voluntary basis The topic theme for November was “Thanksgiving". Rev Charles E Myers is pastor of the North Webster Christian church Mrs. Arden Rider hostess for the Bockwater Friends Dixie Likens, president, was in charge of the recent meeting of Backwater Fnends home extension club The meeting was held in the home of Mrs Arden Rider. Pierceton Dee Vanator assisted the hostess and read the meditation Wanda Mickley. chorister, led the group in singing "Count Your Blessings ’’ The lesson “‘Proper Use of Cosmetics" was given by Fran Bowser. Roll call response was "What 1 remember Most About Going To Grandmas" Reports were given by Gloria Miller, financial statement; Mrs Rider, minutes of the last meeting; Marlene Charlton, health and safety, "Cooking Guide To Safe Food”; Mrs Bowser, cultural arts. “The First Thanksgiving”; and Edith Hoffer, citizenship The door prize was presented to Marna Hollar There were 19 members present Mrs Hollar will be hostess for the December Christmas party Secret pal names will be revealed New secret pal names will be drawn.

Christmas gifts for the mentally ill. Guests present were Margaret Teghtmeyer. Hazel Gaskill and Ruth Sheppard. Six attend youth confab The Church of God state youth convention was held recently at Indianapolis There were six representatives present from North Webster Church of God. Approximately 1,300 youth and their councellors attended the two day session Christmas party Thursday at the Church of God A Christmas observance will be held at 6:30 p.m., December 2. by the women at North Webster Church of God. COMMUNITY NEWS Youth from North Webster Church of God enjoyed a roller skating party held November 22. The children at North Webster United Methodist church are planning to go Christmas Caroling on December 20. Plans for the fourth annual missions convention were made during a meeting of the missions committee held November 29 at North Webster Church of God. Choir practice is being held at 6:30 p.m. each Sunday evening at North Webster Christian church. North Webster Christian church youth and their invited guests will go roller skating on December 4, at Columbia City. Don Guy is youth director for the church. Mr. and Mrs. John Hidy. car was struck by another vehicle while parked in front of his residence located on Wick’s road, Wick's Landing, in the Barbee Lakes area. Miller. Indianapolis, reported he heard a noise and went outside to find his car damaged. Jesse A. Linton, 33, r 1 Leesburg, was cited by the officers for failure of duty upon striking a parked vehicle. Damage to the Miller vehicle was set at S4OO with damages to the Linton car set at SSOO. A cement wall owned by George Chapin was damaged $l5O in the accident. EARLY MORNING FALSE FIRE ALARM Syracuse firemen answered a fire alarm at Liberty Coach in Syracuse Thursday morning at 4:15 am. The building was completely checked for smoke or flames and no fire was found.

The accident occurred six miles south of Mentone tn SR 19The driver was northbound when he hit a slick spot and the vehicle went into a slide. When Utter applied the brakes the vehicle skidded sideways off the road, striking the pole and fence before going down an embankment. County patrolman Roger Fellows investigated.
