NORMALLY WE would have overlooked an item like the one above, but after last week we couldn’t pass it up A young person, in stocking cap with long hair hanging out. came into our Milford office last week with a report for the paper. Our reply, quite innocent, was. "Thank you. are you a deliverygirl?" A shake of the head made us change our statement to "Delivery boy.” This brought a big smile from the youngster Now we find we were correct the first time, however, wonder if maybe we should have said "delivery person.” TOMORROW IS Thanksgiving —a time to thank God far all He has given us during the past year It's a time, especially in this Bicentennial year, when we can reflect back on those citizens who braved the stormy seas so many years ago and of the first Thanksgiving celebration by the Pilgrims in 1621 when they thanked God for the good harvest they had in the new land — America. Citizens of Milford will join this evening Wednesday! m union service's at the First Brethren * church at 7 3O'p m They will be gratitude to God for His bountiful blessings which He has allowed all to enjoy this past year Churches joining in this service are the Milford, Concord and Island Chapel United Methodists. Christian churches will meet for their regular Bible study services in their respective churches. Thursday families in Milford, as well as the entire nation, will join together for the traditional feast Let us all remember to thank God for his blessings IT SEEMS everytime a list of names is printed someone is left out. That was the case of the EMT» last week. The EMT whose name was left out is hard working Terry Beatty who lives near Milford with his wife Maria and their young daughter ITEMS OF interest on the “Scots" — The word we know as plaid means blanket in Scotland, thus when we say we saw a beautiful plaid blanket, we are saying we saw a beautiful "blanket, blanket" per Rev. Andrew Hardie of the Presbyterian church at Goshen. The pattern we refer to as “plaid" in material is really tartan m the Scots’ verbatim. Also of interest is the people of Scotland are Scottish, the liquor is Scotch and the people prefer we remember the difference. These facts were learned by the members of the Golden Rule class of the Bethel church of Milford and their guests Saturday night when they held a class meeting and Rev Hardie and his wife, Annie Laurie, presented the program Dick Smith, not to be outdone, asked them if they knew why Scotsmen were always marching when they played the bagpipes. Mrs. Hardie replied that they had seen them played in other ways while they were in Scotland. Dick’s answer to this was "he heard they were marching to get away from the noise." More Scottish facts????? THURSDAY MORNING proved interesting to many who bve and work in Our Town For a reason we have not learned, a train blocked the tracks for over an hour during the time when many were trying to get to work and school. Some waited for a time, then decided to walk and crawled over the train —a dangerous thing to do. One woman decided if she couldn't get to work, she lives close to the tracks and could see the line of cars, she would sweep the walks! All in all many were unhappy at the inconvenience and many wonder why these trains can’t stop outside of town or if they are picking up something in Milford it seems they could make a break in the train and leave the Catherine-Emeline street crossing open at that time of morning We shudder to think what would happen if there were an emergency on the east side of the
tracks — the ambulance and fire trucks are all on the west side! MEMBERS™OF the Milford park board are eager to provide an active and useful park this coming summer. They welcome all help and suggestions from citizens of the community. Park board members are Marion Acton, who was recentlyelected president. Levi Beer, Connie Smith and D. G. Seely. Members of the park committee associates are Dorothy Williams, Mary Duncan and Jim White. Currently they are looking for an overseer who would live at the park and see to its well being CONGRATULATIONS ARE in store for several residents of our community. Freida Ruch celebrated her 90th birthday on November 16
