lucky enough to stay home thought it was a day for them but I think it was a lucky day for the parents Last year I was unable to attend and I must admit 1 was relieved because I thought 1 would have to do the work my daughter was doing. I could see myself tn the middle of a detailed geometry problem when 1 didn’t even have algebra in school Well, this year I was able to sit in a few classes and can’t tell you how much 1 learned No, not about geometry but about the Wawasee high school, the teachers and most of all the students 1 saw a great bunch of kids and many erf them were at home Mr. Smith made an announcement last period that 433 adults were there, thus leaving 567 students who had parents not there You folks do not know what you missed Next year when SWAP Day rolls around take my word, ydu will not be embarrassed. you will really enjoy the day. I’m looking forward to it. Guess today we are all so busy with our work and responsibilities that we really do not take enough time for our children. You would be surprised how pleased our kids are to have us enjoy their work and responsibilities too See you next year’ Phyllis Louden Mother of Jodi Kleeman

Exceptionally high volume of Christmas mail expected
Suggested Christmas mailing deadlines for domestic parcels and letters mailed have been advanced because of an exceptionally high mail volume, says area postmasters. The suggested Christmas mailing deadline is now December 3 for domestic parcels and December 10 for letter mail and greeting cards intended for delivery by Christmas. “The impact erf greatly increased mail volumes generated by the United Parcel service strike in the east and south, and its residual effect on other parts of the country compels us to ask the public to mail even earlier than normal.” Parcel volume has already more than doubled in the strike Receives sentence in circuit court Twenty-year-old Kris Lynn Stidham of r 4 Syracuse was sentenced in Kosciusko circuit court on Friday to one year imprisonment for unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Young Stidham was arrested on June 11 in connection with possession of a prescription of Quaalude which contained Methaqualane. The prescription, however, was issued in the name of Bill Williams. The sentencing judge, Gene B. Lee, told Stidham he felt it necessary to pass the sentence m spite of an appeal made by Stidham’s attorney, Howard S, Grimm of Fort Wayne, to use some other type of retribution for the young man who is a college studient working his way through school. The Syracuse man had originally made a not guilty plea and later changed his plea to guilty with a bargaining stipulation of not being sentenced to more than one year on the charge.

area and is up significantly nationwide and letter mail is also on the increase, say the postmasters. They said that while letter mail will continue to receive priority treatment, the increase in mail from the general public, on top of the unprecedented business mail volume generated by the strike, could result in the use of many postal facilities normally dedicated to letter mail to prevent an unmanageable backlog of parcels. “Westrongly urge the public to deposit parcels by December 3 and letters by December 10 to assure they are delivered by Christmas,” the postmasters said. Suggested mailing dates for international mail are unchanged. but customers are also urged to deposit overseas packages and greetings immediately and to send them by
