Mrs. Harry Miller Funeral services were held Friday afternoon for Mrs. Harry (Zena B.) Miller, 87, of Ligonier mother of Harry Miller, Jr, of North Webster. Mrs. Miller died Tuesday afternoon in the Goshen hospital A resident of Ligonier for 31 years, she was bom in LaGrange county on August 18. 1889, to Henry and Laura (Haverstock) Morrow On December 11, 1909, she married Harry Miller, who preceded her in death in 1940 Surviving besides her son Harry 'ire another son, Everett Miller of LaGrange; three daughters. Mrs Wade (Mary) Carpenter, Nashville, Mich., Mrs Eugene (Januita) Stahl of Goshen and Mrs. Max (Ila) Hill of Goshen; IS grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren One son preceded her in death Rev Melvin Coil of the LaGrange Missionary church officiated at the services. Burial was in the Eden cemetery near Topeka Carl C. Smeltzer Carl C Smeltzer. 84. of Ligonier step-father of William and Richard Taylor, both of Syracuse, died Tuesday afternoon in the VA hospital in Indianapolis He had been a patient for one week A retired insurance salesman. Mr. Smeltzer was born in Nap pa nee on January’ 30, 1892. He has been a resident of Ligonier. Cromwell and Michigan. On March 14. 1958, he married Thelma Galibraith in Bangor, Mich The deceased was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and veteran of World War I Surviving in addition to his two stepsons are his widow Thelma. two sons. David and Mark, both at home; two daughters. Mrs Shirley Baxter of Bremen and Mrs Ruth Ann Sanford of Fort Wayne, nine grandchildren, and two greatgrandchildren Funeral services were con ducted by Rev William Luttrell Thursday, Nov 11. in the Ulrey funeral home in Ligonier Buna) was in the Covington Memorial cemetery in Fort Wayne Russell B. Grindle Russell B Gnndle, 68. of Lakeshore Trailer Park in Winona Lake, died at 2:50 am., Wednesday. Nov 10 He was a retired machinist at Zimmer USA He was ih Kosciusko Community hospital at the tune of his death. Mr Gnndle was born on June 18. 1908, to Ernest and Erba (Montell Grindle at Warsaw He was married to Rachel Wilson on December 8. 1928 He was a life member of the Moose lodge Surviving him are his wife, Rachel, his mother. Alan and Keith Grindle of Warsaw, and Buddy Grindle of. New Haven; one brother and one sister, Charles Grindle of Bourbon, and Mrs. Douglas (Evelyn) Metz, Leesburg; nine grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren. One sister preceded him in death. Services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, in the Titus funeral home at Warsaw. Rev. Ray Mills officiated at the funeral. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery Mrs. George lockwood Funeral services were held at Muncie on Monday for Effie Alice Lockwood. 79, of r 1 Leesburg. Death came at 8:15 p.m on Friday in Miller Merry Manor at Warsaw and was due to complications following failing health for several months She was born at Gaston on September 14. 1897 and resided for the past 13 years at Irish Lake, moving there from Gary. Her marriage to George Lockwood took place in Muncie on July 23, 1919 and he preceded her in death in 1973. Mrs Lockwood was a housewife and member of the United Brethren church at Warsaw. Survivors include one son. Herschel Lockwood of Kawkawlin. Mich.; eight grandchildren, and six greatgrandchildren A daughter, Mrs Ferrell (Mary Louise) Lindsay, (preceded her in death in May of 1976 Interment was in Elm Ridge cemetery at Muncie Lewis R. Bless Lewis R Bloss. 69, 1602 East Uncoin Ave., Goshen, brother of Mrs Virgil (Mary) Dowty of Milford, died Monday in the Goshen hospital He was taken to the hospital by city first aid ambulance with a respiratory ailment He had been ill for three months He was a native of Vistula and was born February 13, 1907 to William and Beulah (Eldridge) Bloss A lifetime resident of Elkhart county, he lived in Goshen for the past 50 years He retired June 6 after being employed by Abshire Oil Co., for 42 years He was a member of the First Presbyterian church in Goshen On April 16. 1927 he married Magdalene Vanderßeyden Surviving with the wife and Milford sister are his mother, a resident of Goshen; one son, Goshen city councilman William J Bloss; two granddaughters; and three other sisters, Mrs. Frank (Violet) White of Oak Lawn. 11l and Mrs Paul (Mae) Vonßton and Mrs Roy (Cleo) York, both of Goshen. Funeral services were held at 10:30a.m. today (Wednesday) in
the Blocker-Harris Fifth Street chapel with Rev. Andrew Hardie, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial was in Violett cemetery. Memorials may be made to the respiratory therapy department of Goshen hospital. Mrs. V. 0. Barnhart Services for K. Blanche Barrihart, 76, r 4 Albion, will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. in the Parkwood Church of God. Mrs Barnhart is the wife of Dr. V. O Barnhart, pastor of the Fort Wayne First Church of God, well known as a guest speaker by the Syracuse Church of God congregation Mrs. Barnhart died Sunday in Whitley County hospital in Columbia City. A native of Butler county. Pa., she was a past president of the National Women’s Christian Service Council of the Churches of God in North America. Her husband survives along with one son. ISUB campus offers night office-hours An evening information and counseling office is now open on the campus of Indiana university at South Bend for the convenience of students and community residents who cannot get to the campus between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. because of work or other daytime obligations. The after-5 service is provided through the IUSB office of continuing education, in room 017 of Northside hall, just off the main lobby of that building. Staffed by Barbara Pomeranz, the office is open until 8 p.m. on week days. Pomeranz can provide present or would-be students with general counseling services and information about admission procedures and financial aid opportunities. The extension of office hours is designed to meet the needs of persons who find it difficult to get to the IUSB campus during the traditional working day.

Plan commission to discuss new zoning ordinance Members of the Syracuse plan commission will meet at the town hall on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 7:30 for their quarterly business session. Members of the commission will be discussing the new ordinance proposed through a study conducted by Latz and Associates, Fort Wayne. Many changes are proposed. Following study and approval by the plan commission the lengthy ordinance will be published and a hearing set for final approval. The revised subdivision ordinance contains 28 pages in addition to a 70 page zoning ordinance.
