MARK GROVE, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank D. Grove of Nappanee, formerly of Milford, escorted North Wood’s Homecoming Queen at recent festivities there. SOME MILFORD residents are getting mighty put out by the habit of Big Four railroadmen of blocking the crossings in town for an interminable length of time. Townsman Noble Holderread reported all crossings were blocked Friday morning from 6 to 6:30 a.m. “Nubs” said he clocked the time, noting that anyone wanting to cross the tracks to go east had to go to the crossing south of town. MANY WHO attended the Wawasee-Culver Military football game Friday night were given the chance to see their first overtime game when regulation play ended in a tie. It was a different way to end a contest, however most fans were glad when sophomore Dan Andrews kicked his extra point to sve Wawasee a one-point victory. Many missed the overtime because of the freezing temperatures while those who stayed were wishing if the Warriors had to end a game in a tie they would have done it earlier in the season when the weather was a little warmer. SPEAKING OF the football game, the W’awasee high school marching band should be complimented for the half-time shows of the past several games. They were excellent! JANE WILSON, being an avid football fan, chose the topic “Football penalties" to teach her education class at IU. She arrived dressed as a referee, complete with whistle and yellow flag. Jane is one that will never be called a football widow! She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wilson of near Milford and a sophomore at IU. IT’S A big week end for Milford’s youngsters with all the spooks and goblins getting ready to do their thing! The Milford Lions, Legion and Auxiliary party for community youngsters will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the junior high school gy m and trick or treating will be from 5 to 9 p m. on Saturday. DID YOU know Milford almost had a sky diver last week end?

Alas, the clouds were too low and he had to postpone his jump. It is to be rescheduled but we don’t know when. LINDA GARZA of Our Town is the proud owner of a large poster of Elvis Presley. Linda was one of those who term themselves lucky as she got to see the popular singing star in person last week. DON AHRNS was honored at a special recognition dinner last week in honor of his coming November 1 retirement. He has been with Brock Manufacturing for 14 years, serving as sales manager. Mary Zerkel, secretary to Mr. Ahrns, was in charge of arrangements for the dinner which was attended by 42 people, including both office and factory personnel. President Paul Brembeck lauded Mr. Ahrns for selling more feed and grain bins than anyone in the industry. After his retirement Don and his wife, Berneice, plan to do sone traveling. They have three children, Mrs. Jack (Judi) Ulery of Walnut, Calif.; Mrs. Michael (Nancy) Treesh of Houston, Texas; and Robert of Syracuse. AS WE understand it Mrs. Larry (Connie) Smith offered to show a friend how to make a pizza. This she did with a little extra flair than expected. Answering a call that the pizza was done Beckie Campbell went to the kitchen to find a red-faced Mrs. Smith. It seems, in taking the pizza from the oven she managed to catch a towel on fire. Now Beckie wonders if that is always done when you make a pizza from scratch! HAVE YOU met Gerald and Rita Krampe and their four-year-old daughter Trisha? They are new residents of Our Town, having purchased a new home on Maple street. Gerald is in customer sales at Chore-Time.
