MEMBERS OF the Island Chapel UM church are currently observing their 100th anniversary. Tonight (Wednesday) they will observe 100 years of tradition, tomorrow (Thursday) will be 100 years erf scripture and Friday will be 100 years of ministry with the church's past ministers to be honored. The annual homecoming event will be held on Sunday with a basket dinner following the church services. The dinner will be at 12:30 with an afternoon program set for 2 p.m. DON’T FORGET John B Augsburger will be honored at Hometown Day on Friday when he will be at the Milford Emergency Service building to answer questions and talk with fellow townspeople about his campaign for senator from the 13th district. Mrs. Gladys Coy will serve as hostess for the day and is inviting all to stop by for a chat with the candidate. JOE COUSINS and John Gardner 111 have something to be excited about They were chosen for the Wizzards free style ski group and began practice last Sunday Joe is a senior at Wawasee high school and John is a freshman at Tri-State. Turkey Creek township achievement night held
The Turkey Creek township 4-H clubs held their annual achievement night last Wednesday evening at Syracuse junior high school A presentation of pin awards was made by Mrs. David James, leader of the girl’s club and Stanley Hoopingarner, leader for the boys Denise Darr and Kevin Coy were presented with 10-year pins. Youth Exchange caravan to Denmark, presented a slide program on the Danish way of life. A carry-in supper was held with rolls and drink furnished by the Goodwill Extension Home Economics club. Enrollment night for the township clubs, both girls and boys, is tonight, (October 13) at 7 p.m. in the Syracuse school cafeteria. A second girls club will be started at this time with Mrs. James Alford as leader Mrs James will also be present as will Hoopmgarner, leaders of the Spirit of Tomorrow club and Community Hands 4-H clubs, respectively.

Class members and spouses were welcomed in the hospitality room upon arriving shortly after noon and until going to the banquet room for dinner. Harry Brinkman was in charge of a very informal program. Each member told about what he or she had been doing the past 20 years and about his or her family. Also much reminiscing was done by telling incidents of fellow classmates during high school days. They were accompanied by their teacher, Donna Long The first grade of Julie Gunden visited the library on Thursday, Sept. 30. They were also accompanied by Mrs. Garza. The children’s room was visited by Evelyn Day and her second grade class on Monday. Oct. 4. All classes learned how to check out books and the location of suitable, books for their ages. Mrs Elizabeth Brunjes read some stories to each group. The Milford Senior Citizens have given the book “Twelve Baskets of Crumbs" by Elisabeth Elliot to the library. Tri-county hosts family week end
Tri-County Bassmasters recently hosted their families on a twoday family week end. Events for the week end event were a father and child tournament on Lake Syracuse and a husband and wife event on Lakes Syracuse and Wawasee. Ten children and five fathers participated in the three-hour Saturday Kids Day tournament. Live bait was used and any species caught, excepting turtles, were allowable. First place was taken by Dale Stidams. North Webster, with an eight ounce catch. Second was given to Sonya Hiner. Syracuse, "'with five ounces. Third went to Stephanie Stidams. Syracuse and Tony Miller. North Webster, for two ounces. Fourth went to Stacey Miller. North Webster, and Kellie Stidams. North Webster, for one and a half ounces. A four-way tie for fifth place between Eric Stidams. Syracuse; Dan McCulloch. Syracuse; Carolyn Ebert. Warsaw; and Buren Powell, North Webster, all weighing in with a one ounce catch. A cookout followed and trophies were awarded to all participants by Don Stidams. president. Second place went to a first timer, Shirley Gard, Warsaw, for her 10 ounce catch. Third went to Mary Ebert, for her nine ounce catch. Fourth went to Marilyn Hiner for five ounce catch. Also participating but catching no fish were Sybil Hiner. North Webster; Tilda Stidams, North Webster; Carolyn Stevens, Marion; and Sandy Stidams, Syracuse. The wives were hosted to dinner and trophies were presented by Don Strdams, club president. Trailer breaks loose, crashes into woods A total of $2,200 damages resulted when a boat and trailer broke from a truck on SR 13 two and a half miles south of Syracuse and crashed into a woods. Ernest N. Hall, 24, of Goshen driver of the truck belonging to Starcraft Co. said the trailer began fishtailing, so he slowed the truck just as the trailer broke loose.
