At present, a child weighing three pounds or more is seldom lost, in infants weighing less, losses have been reduced, the women said. The supervisor also showed sides of Parkview's respiratory equipment and how it works. She encourages parents to be at the unit and handle their children and work with them. Parkview handies over 3.000 childbirths per year plus 120 transports a year.

TO BE AT WAWASEE — Joy McDonald. Nashville recording artist, composer, singer and speaker, will present two programs at Wawasee high school on Wednesday, Oct. 0. She may be seen at 8:23 and at 9:25. The programs are sponsored by the Lakeland Concerned Citizens Forum as part of the Bicentennial celebration. Mrs. McDonald is a graduate of Millersburg high school and is a resident of Goabea. She has three albums — "Joy McDonald Sings," "To Children. With Love.” and "Farmer s Daughter” — all recorded in Nashville. All include songs she wrote. Her writings are a result of experiences as wife, mother and self employed accountant. The couple's remarks are humorous, serious and inspiring. The public is invited to attend these programs.

FFA soils team advances The Wawasee Future Farmers of America soil judging team continued its winning ways with a first place finish in the sub-area east soils contest. The competition was held last Saturday near Crown Point. Teams from throughout northern Indiana competed The Wawasee team captured four of the top five individual placmgs with Ed Clayton winning top honors. Jim Shock. Rich Leanions. and Mike Tom finished second, third and fifth respectively. They will continue on to the area contest to be held next Saturday near Goshen. In addition team members Marcia Pifer. Mark Baumgartner. Terry Richards, Jeff Beezley and Kevin Schrock also competed and placed third in the overall competition. The team traveled to West Lafayette on September 17 and 18 to compete in the annual Purdue Invitational Soils Judging contest. Mark Krug, number two singles player, won his match against Cook from Rochester 6-3,6-2. He was beaten by Tom Flaherty 7-5, 6-4 in playoffs. In the number three position Bryan Smith beat out Larry Cucher to advance himself against Dan Heiser who took it 63, 7-6.
