Saturday was the last day of employment at the Syracuse license branch for LaVada Dean, a right hand girl at the branch, off and on, for the past 25 years. She gave as a reason for her termination of employment' "personal reasons," but it’s generally known she will soon become Mrs. Louis R. Ba binsky, but will continue to reside in the North Webster community. Her “intended" is a native Czech, retired, and longtime resident of Cleveland. If anyone can be considered an "old pro" in the license branch business in this area it would have to be LaVada. She began employment with Billie Emerson in November 1951 and subsequently worked for Annabelle Coil, sat it out the year W. W. Pauli was branch manager, worked tor Annabelle again, then with Mary Ganshorn and Virginia Putt. She said she worked a day and A half with Betty Sc blotter back. The past four years come I January >, she worked with Jack Vanderford. current branch manager Her breakfast club friends surprised her Friday morning when they presented her with an attractive hostess gown. Kathryn Greider, LaVada’s able fellow employee for the past four year period, will have to go it alone for a while It's been a happy, efficient team, those three. LaVada’s host of friends wish her well in whatever course she chooses to follow. John Rinker, well known manufacturer of Rinkerbuilt Boats in Syracuse, has chosen to hang up his racing spurs He was in a senous race boat accident at the International speed boat races at Dayton. 0 . on August 23. and has not fully recovered "I’m not as young as 1 used to be." John observes, "and I don’t mend as fast as I did at one time." He had completed his eliminations and had eliminated half of the nation when he had his accident, he noted After 30 years cf racing. In late October several local artists plan to visit Eureka Springs, Ark., to study painting under a professional. Names withheld upon request. The first funeral was scheduled for this week at the new Harris funeral home on road 13 south of Syracuse, but a formal opening is still some time down the road Jim and Terri Caskey have purchased the Lake Wawasee home of Ash and Lavon and are doing some redecorating before moving. Wawasee grad successful in CPA exam The Indiana Association of Certified Public Accountants’ list of 146 Indiana residents who successfully completed the recent CPA examination includes Miss Barbara Rush, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. Rush. Syracuse. Miss Rush, a 1976 graduate of Manchester college, is an assistant accountant with Peat, Marwick. Mitchell and Co. in Indianapolis. At Manchester she was a Hoosier Scholar and member of Kappa Mu Epsilon, mathematics honorary fraternity. She is a graduate of , Wawasee high school. CPAs are professionals in the development, analysis, interpretation and communication of economic and financial data. Successfully completing the fourpart examination, considered the most difficult of all accreditation testing programs, is one of the requirements for certification In addition, a member of the profession must be a college graduate and have at least three years' experience. The test is written ami graded by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and administered by the state boards of accountancy.
